Naruto's Itachi *******-hen TV Anime Premieres on March 3

The March issue of Shueisha's Saikyo Jump magazine announced on Friday that the anime of the Naruto spinoff novels Itachi ******* (The True Legend of Itachi) will premiere on March 3.

Anyone know if this Itachi arc is canon or filler? I know it's based off of two novels, so it's not something SP came up with.
