Intent to kill does make a difference because if you don't have the intention of killing someone, it means you are holding back in regard for their life.

However, in this case, it's wrong to say 'if Naruto had intent to kill' because Naruto gave it his all anyway with the intent of staying alive and defeating Sasuke, because if he continued to hold back, he would have lost.

Disagree, Naruto fought defensively the entire time, how can one go all out if they don't intend to kill and or maim in a fight? I'll tell you how, you can't. It's like fighting against a dude who's got a knife using your hands cuz you don't want to accidently cut them.
