Hello everyone.

So, this has bothered me for a while (but I haven't mustered up the energy to make a thread about it, stop judging me!); what Naruto says in the bottom panel of this page makes zero sense:

So let me get this straight...the guy who has, along with everyone his age, been taught to kill and live his life as a tool for safeguarding the village which is ruled by one single person and a handful of advisor, thinks DEMOCRACY is the OBVIOUS way to rule the world? Doesn't the man keep shouting about how he wants to become Hokage every five minutes? The Hokage, benevolent or not, is still more or less a dictator, is he not? It's not like they're having a public voting process for selecting a new Kage, that's for sure - The Kage is supposed to be the strongest in the village. Might makes right, if you will.

Look, I'm not trying to bash Naruto or start a flamewar, but I just can't see the logic here. What do you think?

Ps: the guy to the right on the left panel in the middle looks f*cking TERRIFYING! Look at him! That's the stuff of nightmares.

Naruto said plenty of times he would change how things are run.
Are you not aware what naruto represents ? Its love can beat out hatred.
Your acting as if naruto will reign as a ruthless kage who does whatever must be done to protect the village :sy:

I don't remember that! Could you link that, please?

Also, even if the Jonin all vote, it's hardly a comfort that the elites in the army are the only ones who get to vote, no? What of the civilians?

I'll try to find it.

Kakashi said it at the time when Danzo was chosen to be a Hokage.

I most certainly am not. Where did I say that? I said the Hokage, benevolent or not, is still a dictator. Where did Naruto come up with the idea of democracy, and why would he care if he wants to become Hokage?

This is not about what Naruto represents, I feel like we've had that shoved down our throats enough. It's just that it's highly confusing that he starts to talk about democracy.

I think he wants the policies if the villiage voted on something like a democratic kageship. Where it would be the Kage and an elected body of when I'm guessing is jounins to vote up or down policies and proposals.

People need to be told what to do but they don't to admit it.

They rather Have 'freedom', death and war all their life than have peace by losing their so called 'freedom'.

Because...having Kage and Ninja Villages have stopped war, is that what you're saying?

He's saying that once this war is over and everyone looks to Naruto..kinda like how everybody looked to George Washington after the revolution...Naruto will install a new system or at least do away with the old ninja system..I think they call that foreshadowing lol xP

Awesome, thanks!

Although this doesn't prove that much - maybe this is a one-time-thing because Danzo seized power so abruptly? Or because of the state they were left in? I don't know. But if this is the norm, then isn't it strange how the army elite are the only ones permitted to vote? It still doesn't make much sense for Naruto to start talking about voting and democracy.

You do realize a dictatorship is the most effective form of government, when done correctly?

Well, I just wanted to prove that there is an actual voting. :yeah:

Firstly, that has nothing to do with this thread.

Secondly, effective does not equal prosperity.

It has everything to do with this thread.

In theory, a dictatorship is supposed to be where one leader calls the shots but keeps the public in mind.

The Hokage type deal is a dictatorship, but it is an effective one. Naruto would even most likely take the majority vote into account if he was ever Hokage.
