He may have awoken, but we don't know to what degree.. from what it looks like, Naruto has awoken to the place deep in his mind where he had his conversations with Kurama. I don't think Naruto will be returning to the battlefield just yet, Gai still has the spotlight but I have the feeling that soon he going to wish he didn't.

Definitely happened in this war, a couple of times. He's giving off corny speeches, the plot is going no where and the fight is just getting repetitive. Sasuke makes his long-awaited appearance after several months of waiting and moves the plot forward.
