2014 wasn't a bad year, but it's normal for the older members to say that considering they probably didn't like us lol. I vouch to say that 2016 is even worse. 2015 was bad but this current year is just terrible.

I wasn't there at the time but knowing forums in general, I'd say the early years would be the best when things were still fresh, the staff and members alike were more open with each other and the posts had better quality in general. I get this from lurking some old 2008 threads.

People in general seemed more polite and the whole thing looked way healthier.

Here is my opinion for why 2012 was the best year for NarutoBase for these reasons:

1) Epic manga battles at that time like Tobi vs Kakashi, Naruto, Guy and KillerBee and it was the most exciting part (arc) of the whole Naruto series.

2) Tobi revealed to be Obito (in mid 2012) was the biggest thread discussion at that year.

3) Bleach's last anime episode air dated on March 27, 2012 and not continuing the series led to a lot of threads posted hoping bleach anime would continue.

4) At that time, it was an exciting year for Naruto. Like every week we would get hyped for the next chapter to be released.

I enjoyed reading Naruto manga until reaching the kaguya arc where Madara would be out of the action.

Actually 2016 was a good year. It was the year that Skorm decided not to be a mod anymore.

I don't know about the rest of the forum since I only read and posted in the Naruto discussion sections on my old Prometheus account (lost) back then, but the only thing special about 2012 was the peak activity - the threads certainly weren't all that much better in quality aside from the occasional analysis or prediction thread here and there.

Other than that it was just a never ending cycle of repeated Vs threads, Itachi and Minato wanking, Naruhina vs Narusaku pairing threads and Sakura bashing. I mean I found all that amusing for a while - heck I even made a Sakura bashing weekly popular thread - but then it got boring.

Edit: damn it looks like the GD section was also really active back then - I missed all that fun, damn!
