- Flash to Future -
The darkness of one’s mind tumbles on. Unable to pull themselves out of the tunnel of unconsciousness, they lie there, screaming inside to wake up. Then, a small voice rippled through with a soft echo that grew louder with each cry. The name being called was inaudible, but it was yelling desperately to pull the person out of the darkness.

???: *worried, upset* wake up... Please, Wake Up..! WAKE UP!!!
Suddenly, a girl’s pair of light blue eyes shot open. Immediately after regaining consciousness, the owner of the blue eyes began coughing up blood. She tried sitting up and coughing into her hand, but the fatigue pulled her back to the hard earth. Blots of black appeared over her eyes from the shock. A different voice rung into the air with concern.
?????: She actually woke up...! *in shock* Oh god, stay down!
Letting herself slump back to the ground, the girl lied on the ground, being healed by Sakura Haruno. The girl looked to be a bit older than Sakura with longer hair and fair blue eyes. Those eyes continued to stare up at those who were looming over them with concern: Kakashi Hatake, Sakura Haruno, and Naruto Uzumaki (who she seemed to be avoiding making eye contact with). The injured girl needed the medical attention without a doubt. She was battered, bloodied, and bruised all over. There was a massive, bloody gash on the left side of the girl’s stomach; it seemed a dagger had come in contact with it. The blood coming from the wound had an almost purple tint to it. Her clothes were splattered with fresh blood, and her fishnets had been ripped to just shreds hanging off her skin. Thick lines of blood were dripping from the girl’s mouth, and her head was bleeding from what looked to be a hard impact. In addition, her left foot looked as if it were snapped from its original position. Kakashi’s concerned gaze hung on his face. He reached his hand out to the girl, who grasped it tightly. Their hands remained interlocked as the girl lie still on the cold, hard ground.
Girl: Where... *cough* where is he...
Kakashi: We don’t know, he’s gone. Sasuke, any signs of him?
Sasuke Uchiha was currently standing a few feet away from his fellow teammates, using his Sharingan to scan the area.
Sasuke: None whatsoever... it’s like he just vanished... *looking up, shouting* Sai, see anything up there?
Floating above the trees on an ink bird was Sai, scouting from the skies for signs of activity.
Sai: *looking around* No, it is quite odd that he is no where to be seen...
Kakashi: *looking back down at the girl* He disappeared; he left after Naruto...
Girl: *cutting him off, almost disgusted to hear Naruto’s name* Damn it... *struggling to sit up* I’ll kill the little...
Suddenly, the air was cut from the girl’s line of speech and she fell back, gasping, spitting bright red once again.
Sakura: Don’t try to sit up; you’ll only harm yourself more!
Moving one of her hands to the injured girl’s throat, Sakura used her medical ninjutsu to help the girl to breath easier. The girl took a deep breaths, trying not to let the tears being held in her eyelids escape.
Kakashi: *to Sakura* So? Can we save her?
Sakura: I don’t know... she has many injuries, internal and external, and she’s lost a lot of blood. Plus the poison...
The girl stared up at Sakura, clearly hoping that the answer to Kakashi’s question would be yes... even though she knew better. Sakura let out a sigh that lacked any faith.
Sakura: She’ll either just make it... or she’ll die.
Both Kakashi and Naruto stared with disbelief. Even Sasuke, who had been watching the land carefully and observing Sai slowly descend from the skies, turned his head back to see what was happening. Everyone wore a worried expression... but especially the girl. Her eyes were wide with shock... and for the first time, fear.

Prologue:
It is 7 months after the Fourth Great Shinobi war has come to a conclusion. The Allied Shinobi Forces have defeated Obito and Madara Uchiha, and the villages have entered a state of peace. For the past few months, though, the Five Great Nations have witnessed a new threat on the horizon. Multiple murders have been taking place throughout the shinobi world. No one has seen or has a clue to who the person, and no one has a guess to what this person’s strategy is, considering the number of people they kill at once varies frequently. Each village has had their share of attacks by this mysterious destructor.
CHAPTER ONE:
Kakashi Hatake is seen in his apartment with a confused look upon his face. Walking around with only one sock on, he wanders around, looking for the other one.

Kakashi: Now where did I put that sock...
He opens a drawer to see if his sock is maybe hidden in the bottom of it. Digging under the clothes in the drawer, he uncovers something at the bottom.
Kakashi: Hm?
He takes out the object, which reveals itself to be a picture frame. He examines the picture with eyes wide open. It was a photo of Kakashi at a younger age standing with a girl of about 10 years of age, holding a Chuunin certificate. Both were smiling brightly. After staring at the picture for a long time, Kakashi slams it back down into the drawer and closes it with a bang. He stands there, leaning both of his hands on the dresser in front of him. Against his will, he enters a flashback.
- Flashback Begins -
Distant voices were yelling back and forth at one another, and the occasional scream was heard. What was left of Konoha continued to burn the morning after the attack of the Kyuubi. The buildings were in ruins, the streets were charred, and the air reeked of dust, smoke, and death. Shinobi ran through the streets, trying to fight their way through the rubble. On the night of the attack, they were told to stay put and go into hiding with the rest of the villagers, but that day they were put to work. Now that the attack had ended, the search for survivors could begin. 14 year old Kakashi Hatake went from house to house, jumping over the dug up rocks in the streets. He unfortunately had not found any survivors yet. He glanced around at the other houses and other shinobi marking the doors with X’s and the rare O’s. Wiping the sweat off his brow, he searched for an opening in the next house. This house looked as if it had been purposely targeted. There was no longer a visible entrance, the ceiling had fallen in, and it didn’t show any resemblance to the house it once might have been. Finally finding a way to get in, Kakashi peered into the space. It was mostly bright due to the sunlight, but there were some dark patches where the rubble cast shadows onto the ground. He placed one foot inside to make sure the floor was still stable, then he stepped inside. He searched carefully for any signs of people inside. After almost giving up, he saw an arm lying still. He ran over to it and pulled up the ceiling boards that had fallen on top of it. Peeling back the boards revealed two people lying unconscious, seeming to be clutching something. No, there were three people; the “thing” the couple was holding was in fact a young girl who appeared to be about two years old. The man’s left arm was bent into a strange fashion, and the woman’s leg appeared to be broken, twisted in an unnatural way. The little girl, despite being shielded by her parents, had some cuts and what looked to be a broken arm like her father. The mother seemed to be pressing a small object into her daughter’s hand. After closer examination, it seemed to be a necklace --- a dark red letter “A” pendant hanging from a black beaded chain. It was identical to one around the child’s neck, except hers was a letter “K” pendant. Kakashi’s eyes rested on the little girl.

Kakashi: *sigh* It’s such a shame... someone this young doesn’t deserve to die...
Pulling out his marker, Kakashi began to stand up. He suddenly paused as he heard a tiny, high pitched noise come from below him. His eyes shot down and saw the little girl had let out a sharp cry of pain.
Kakashi: No way... is she... alive?
He bent back down and checked the pulses of each individual for confirmation. Pressing his fingers to the two adults’ neck, there was nothing. Then he did so to the child and felt a very faint but existent pulse. He quickly ran to the outside and marked the wall with two X’s and one O, the first anyone had seen in too long of a time. He then ran back inside, gently picked up the little girl, put the “A” pedant in his pocket, and sprinted in the direction of the hospital with the child slowly breathing in his arms.

Author’s Note:
Hello, everyone! I hope you enjoyed Chapter One of Naruto: Yūjō No Saikai! I would like to let you all know that this is my first fanfiction, so if you have any suggestions or comments about it, I would greatly appreciate and answer them when I get the chance. I am very busy with school, so I can not guarantee how often I will release each chapter. But, as I said, this is my first fanfiction, so don’t go TOO hard on me. Please don’t post rude or hurtful comments as well. Also, I know that this chapter did not have much dialogue. Don’t worry, there will be much more dialogue as the FF progresses. This chapter was more to fill you in on what is happening and the beginning of the flashback. Kakashi isn’t encountering many others during this chapter as well, so there wouldn’t be much dialogue anyway. In addition, if you were confused at the beginning, the “Flash To Future” is like the beginning of the Naruto Shippuden anime; it shows a preview of a future event to build suspense :3 Hope you enjoyed! ^^
Editors Note:
Wait, do editors even get to have notes? Well who cares, I’m writing a note anyway xD with all the work I’ve put into helping Beep with this, I deserve a little input at the end xD </rant> So yeah...Banana here. I’ll do my best to keep Beep here on track and writing consistently, but we are both busy people and I don’t want to make promises I can’t keep. Ya know, just incase this promise leads to spending my whole life obsessing over a friend who has fallen into the darkness and killed her own brother and feeling the need to not give up until my promise is fulfilled which chances are, it never will be and-....wait(that’s totally not the plot of Naruto). Beep is going to want to kill me for comparing her to Sasuke but she knows she can’t, what would she do without her editor

Also, just in case you were wondering, Yūjō No Saikai means “Reunions of Friendship.” You will understand why I chose this as a title when more of the fanfiction is released. Thanks to RasenToad who helped me come up with the name! x3
