Rinnegan & Sharingan
Purpose: Madara ensure all his allies had both type of eyes.
Notice that when Obito return from Kamui world, Madara see it thru Obito eyes rinnegan.
Immediately (just like chakra rod), he said ...Chapter 636 pg 15.

Rinnegan > abilities to see the surrounding areas.
Sharingan > to able to predict the next.

Well, I'm not stating that he won't awake the Rinnegan. But simply stating that with his current experience and training, Sage Mode + Biju Mode are more effective.
He may know HOW to use the Rinnegan abilities, but without proficiency.
