Honestly it would be kind of lame if he surpassed the sage of six paths. Yes, he's the main character but everyone must have a limit to their power. If you make a guy too powerful it'll be harder to create new antagonists in the series ( after tobi or madara, unless the series comes to an end ) and if peace is brought after the war, then what is the point of having all that power? The series would turn just like dragon ball z, where the main character only gets power enhancements to defeat enemies instead of using true skill.
