You're assuming there is time for that.

Tsunade would know about that. Not that Amaterasu would care - or that a skull-splitting wouldn't resolve the faux invulnerability jutsu.

She's a side character.

What is she doing in a role that Sakura has been "foreshadowed to fill?"

"I'm going to do something to help Naruto. He's always taking on the world's problems by himself..."

Who steps in and does just what Sakura's been promising to do since before the Chunin exams? Hinata.

Every. Time.

Why?

Tension? What tension?

Whether she is "a main character" or not is rather irrelevant to the fact that she is continually placed in the role of one when it comes to Naruto's character development and shifts in the theme of the overall plot of the manga.

One must ponder on why that might be.

Aww... how cute.

Well, yes. And that's why no one takes the assertion seriously. :p

That's mean of me. I should encourage the development in deductive reasoning amongst my subordinates, rather than demean them for novice errors in the art.

You see - Naruto has many layers of theming applied to it. Dojutsu are modeled after religions/ideologies, the Bijuu come from Japanese mythology, characters like the original Sanin come from Japanese folk tales... then you have plot themes - such as repeating history, the succeeding generation surpassing the prior generation, the idea that war often comes from two different ideas of how to achieve a peaceful existence.... and then you have character theming - which are long-standing trends between characters that are developed and perpetuated by the author.

Determining which ones are token, and which ones are operative is a bit of a challenge - and an impossible one if one is not aware of most of the different parallels and their running history.

But one thing is pretty much concrete. Naruto is Yang. Hinata is Yin. There's a whole yin-yang, taoist thing going on between the two. And it's why we see Hinata in the role typically reserved for the main heroine. Yin and Yang are not opposing forces - but complementary.

The Uchiha and the Senju represent a clashing of Yin and Yang. A violent, powerful, or "Wei" action.

The Uzumaki and the Hyuuga represent the complementary shifting or 'swirling' of Yin and Yang; a peaceful, submissive, or "Wu" action.

The Uzumaki and the Hyuuga predate the curse of hatred. Which is exactly what the next arc will be about - and it will involve our dear little side character. Who will be taking over for our dearly departed main heroine.

Here we go again :p NaruHina relies solely on those theories. Yet it still remains heavily one-sided. To those saying Naruto changed after 615, go read 631. Everything is still same. Hinata loves Naruto, Naruto loves Sakura, Sakura loves Sasuke.
Thing is that this last chapter shows that Sakura's feelings towards Sasuke are changing so that opens up NaruSaku even more. Your theory behind Sakura dying is nonsense. If someone is going to die it's going to be : One of K11 (no Team 7), Kakashi, Tsunade, Guy, Tsuchikage.
If someone from Team 7 is going to die, it's either Naruto or Sasuke and that is going to be in a final fight. Even if Sakura interferes in their fight, she has her Creation Rebirth so she is safe.

Well, yes. And that's why no one takes the assertion seriously. :p

Well, maybe I should explain my point of view.

First of all, anybody knows that all three main pairings are one-sided at this point, that is no secret. However, only when it comes to Sakuras feelings for Naruto it was suggested both in manga and Databook, that he may be more for her than friend.

Manga ->

Databook:
"Since when she was a child Sakura had always felt admiration and a feeling similar to love for Sasuke. Naruto was just an "annoying" boy who stood in the middle between Sakura and Sasuke and disturbed their relationship. But after completing many missions together with him, she looked back at the past and finally realized: when she was in trouble, when she was ready to give up on her life, the one who was always there, protecting her and encouraging her, was in fact that "annoying" boy, Naruto. What are her current feelings for Naruto...? Sakura still hasn't found an answer."
There were no shuch things when it comes to Narutos feelings for Hinata, or Sasukes feelings for Sakura.

Secondly, parallels. Its obvious that there are parallels between Naruto and Jiraiya and Obito. Basically, I believe that Naruto (as a main character) is meant win where his precedessors failed - to win heart of the girl he loves (aside from other thing, of course). ->

If Naruto ended up with Hinata, there would be no win for him IMO, simply becuase:
a) Hinata loved him from the very start
b) It would mean that he never managed to change Sakuras heart and make her return his feelings. In other words, he would fail.

Thirdly, foreshadowings. Kushina said: "Find a girl like your mother". Yeah, Sakura isnt exactly like Kushina, but anyone can say that he resembles her much more than Hinata. Even Minato compared their tempers. Moreover, Sakura just recently get connection to Uzumaki clan via Yin seal (Mito had the same thing on her forehead).

Besides, what is more probable: main hero ending up with some avarage Hyuuga, or the girl he loved from the very start of the series, and who is on her way to become the strongest kunoichi in the history (shes only 16, yet rapid self-regeneration is the only thing she lacks compared to Tsunade)? Plus NS relationship is the most developed from them all.
