I'm not a normal person. I don't "get" social interaction and people naturally. Some consider it a disorder - but it has its benefits, as it's a different perspective.
To put it into perspective, when you look at a glove - you see a "glove" - it is the 'chunk' your mind works with. When I look at a glove - I see a construct with five protrusions and other details. It's only after analyzing these details that I finally come to a conclusion about what it is I am seeing.
If social situations were a glove, that is.
Which is why I can get inside of people's heads. I notice patterns in their behavior that others don't notice because they lump it under the general context of "that's a glove." "That's a mitten." "That's a sock." I see: "That's wool." "That's wool." "That's wool, too. This person must really like wool." Those are things that I notice simply in trying to function in a social environment - things that other people miss because of the subconscious handling of social interactions.
Which is why I find a lot of socialization tedious unless someone offers me something interesting. There is, also, that rare moment when I run into someone who I do share a more natural level of socialization with (somehow) - and that person and I can talk just like average people would to each other (or, I can only assume it's close to that).
Which is why, where you see "NaruSaku" as valid - I realized it was decisively invalid. It's not the story that is to be told, here. The story isn't of the boy getting everything he wanted. The story is of a boy who chooses to fulfill destiny and find a solution for peace/harmony.
You can tell a lot about people from their works of authorship. In some cases, the truest representation of who a person is at their very core comes from when they share with you the visions of a world of their creation with people of their design.
Kishimoto isn't tricky. He follows a pattern even he may not be fully aware of. There's a reason it was Neji who saved Naruto... and it ties in with destiny beyond a mere protection of the Main Branch. Just as it was Hinata's Destiny to face off against Neji in front of Naruto... and just as it was Naruto's destiny to assume the role of the next Sage - so too was it Hinata's destiny to stand at his side.
For God's sake - the chapters are being named after Hinata's actions and very words.
Even if they don't end up making babies together - there's an intrinsic bond and relationship the two are to share, and it dates back to the first Sage, you will find.
