Nagato failed as a child of prophecy so that is not a determinant, asuma hardly matters even though his father was hiruzen infact we don't know hashirama's sons so hokage son is not a determinant, we have many failed jins and uzumaki's so that doesn't matter either.

Do you want to know what made him stronger ?

Naruto's power isn't the rasengun or the sage mode ..or the nine tails .

- To protect his friends those dear to him .. to save all his friends ..

------------------------------------------------------------------------

No doubt it's that intense desire that is guiding his strength ...

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The power to believe himself is what made him who he is now.

That is who Uzumaki Naruto is and always will be .

You guys don't get it, all of this, everything single thing that he has now was bound to happen even before he was born because he IS the child of prophecy

Nagato didn't fail, he was the student of Jiraiya that was supposed to bring destruction, and he did just that

No, it wasn't bound to happen because Kishimoto himself isn't psychic, he's not going to do full scale planning 10 years ahead.

You still don't understand what an underdog is - "A competitor thought to have little chance of winning a fight or contest."

This isn't about battles dude, maybe ''underdog'' is the wrong word to use, but Naruto is supposed to be the guy who overcame all odds and yadi yadi yada. But in reality, he's actually just been destined to be great long b4 he was born..

I'm generally not against characters who are born with power greater than most others' but has to work hard to master it, I mean a protagonist is often special in some way right? But as soon as the "Prophecy" stuff began it became a lot worse :| I wish Kishi would have pulled some twist with that prophecy (something like Obito turning out to be the destined child after all or something). Like, there was a fan theory about Harry Potter which said Neville was in fact the child of prophecy instead of Harry (I think), but of course it wasn't true and the actual story is more straightforward.

And now Naruto's ninja Jesus hype by, like, everyone around him is pretty annoying IMO.

Naruto was an underdog. People didn't see much in him other then the 9 tailed fox. He started from the very bottom and now he is here. He at the top and still rising beyond even that. Not a Naruto fan-boy at all but it's the truth.

He was never an underdog No matter How you slice it.

He was just a lazy moron who spent time for shit like painting Hokage statues. He supposedely works for a week or 2 when needs another boost or was leeching on Kurana chakra when he was a kid. And had op genes who is a child of prophecy; bound to be something huge.

Someone like him spouting all those words and beating Neji was utterly contradictous.

well at the time he fought neji he didn't know he had karama in him or that he was the 4th's son he knew he was an uzumaki but didn't even know the Kekkei Genkai that they have so until jiraiya came along and trained him he was just a **** up who some how over came with his determination and he said that to hinata on his old training field b4 the invasion by orochi and the sand village

underdog [ˈʌndəˌdɒg]
n
1. the competitor least likely to win a fight or contest
2. a person in adversity or in a position of inferiority

No matter how you slice it,Naruto part 1 and till the Pain arc was the underdog.
this^. U_U dont know what these people yapping about part 1 naruto was always the underdog, the moment he enter the battle with neji everyone told him to give up. and why do most of these people on the base try to discard the kyuubi power?
