Naruto Was An Extremely Original Idea

I think that's what made it so popular.

It was cool, it had ninjas, but it also had magic. While the show has never strictly focused on ninja themes (giant monsters, undying black fire), it has stayed original for the most part.

Maybe that's why it's sort of losing steam now? Now, it's lost most ninja aspects, and only focuses on the monsters and power ups.

It was original. Being inspired doesn't mean it's not original.

The entire Big 3 and any recent Shounen are largely based on DBZ. Luffy and Naruto are similar, however Naruto has delved a bit away from Goku, but Luffy is extremely similar; Only Ichigo is really not like Goku. But the premise of each still stands. DBZ there would always be a struggle against a villain and then... BAM! Asspull. Like when Goku is facing Frieza and then goes SSJ and then shit stomps Frieza. Or Buuhan vs Goku and Vegeta. Vegeta is getting smacked, Goku goes SSJ3 and still gets smacked, they fuse and then stomp on Buuhan. This is similar to the Pein vs Naruto fight and the Ichigo vs Aizen fight.

OT: I agree, Bleach/One piece/Naruto are personally my all time favs in regards to manga. All fully original and bring new ideas.

Though I disagree on the second part. Naruto is getting better and better to watch. Your argument seems to be like how people are judging the Man of Steel movie (Superman lost his touch or his Christopher Reeves style). No the thing is it was never about real life ninja. It revolves around a aspect of what a shinobi is. And redefines what a NINJA is. Unlike what we are presented in real life with.

*Shounen. Don't take that as a misconception. Kishimoto and Oda themselves have said they used DBZ as an inspiration. And what are they? SHOUNENS!
