we don't know if he was really in base or in some sort of SM (had no markings or froggie eyes)

it depends of what the sage boost did to them
he probably doesn't even need to enter SM anymore... it's possible him and Sasuke can use their sage chakra in base

but guess we'll find out soon enough

. Him not being able to throw it is not much of an issue, as he can just have a clone ram it into Kakuzu directly like he himself did in canon. Thus, it just becomes a matter of overwhelming Kakuzu with clones whilst the ones with Rasenshuriken sneak up from his blind spots and take him out.
