Well, remember when Naruto fought so hard to prove Neji that everyone forges their own destinies?

And then we have the great toad sage, who told Naruto the prophecy that he is destined to be the greatest and stuff. U_U

So, does it mean that Neji was right after all? He said only people destined to be Hokage will be Hokage. And it seems to be correct.
This kind of crushes the main motif of the series, that you can achieve more than others with hard work and determination. U_U

prophecy is prophecy. a person who can see the future will not necessarily be able to control the future.
what naruto said to neji changed his future, did it not? a future of hating the head family, possible dissention and even rebellion or going rogue turned into peaceful alliance.

as for naruto being controlled by destiny, i think not. naruto controls destiny, and is capable of such greatness because of this ability.

that's true,but then again,destiny can only be reached by hard workers, u can change u r destiny by hard working, had naruto given up at any stage he wouldn't have listened that prophecy

Prophecy is not the same thing as Destiny.

According to the Prophecy the Boy who brought great peace/destruction could have been anybody out of Nagato, Yahiko, Minato and Naruto.

We know what Nagato did then committed suicide, Yahiko committed suicide, Minato committed suicide. Naruto was the only one to stand up and decide that he is going to be the boy of the prophecy. You get where I'm pointing? Naruto chose the Phophecy to be his Destiny and is fighting to prove it right.
