Here’s my previous chapters, for those who missed any:

Chapter 046: How Very Much Alike

On the outskirts of the Leaf village, in a large house sitting at the center of a newly rejuvenated estate, the entire Uchiha clan was gathered to congratulate Manako and Akame for their advancement to the final round of the Chūnin Exams. With the clan leader Sasuke and his wife Sakura seated at the end of the large table, the two victors were perched on either side of them, with Katsuto seated by his sister. To Manako’s left was his father Itachi the Second, who bore a rather striking resemblance to his late uncle, and to Katsuto’s right was their mother Tsunade, who shared many characteristics with both her mother and the Sannin from whom her name was derived, among them being pink hair and a sizeable bust. The seven sat at the table conversing for several minutes until finally, they were joined by the latter’s husband Tamanoko Shininoru, the only non-shinobi among them. In his hands was the last of what was sure to be a culinary work of art, as were the five other dishes already placed around the table, and after setting it down, he quickly retreated back into the kitchen and returned with two large kennels of freshly brewed tea, which he proceeded to pour into everyone’s glasses before taking a seat by his wife. Before any of them could dig in, though, he held up his glass for a toast, as did the others, including a reluctant Katsuto.

Tamanoko: To Manako and Akame for their success in the preliminaries, and to Katsuto for his own valiant efforts!

Sasuke, Sakura, Itachi, and Tsunade: Cheers!

With that, they each took a sip from their glasses, placing them down once they finished and quickly began filling their plates with food. What followed was an array of impressed expressions as each of them took their first bites, along with a satisfied grin from the chef as his wife turned towards him with a smile.

Tsunade: It’s delicious as always, dear.

Tamanoko: (He took her hand into his own before proceeding to taste his creation.) I made sure to put the extra effort into these ones. They are for a special occasion, after all.

Akame: (She gave a snobbish smile as she took another sip of her tea.) You were so surprised, Father? As if there were ever any doubts that Manako and I would make to the finals.

Katsuto: Hey, I would’ve made it, too! I just didn’t think Chan would put up that much of a fight!

Sasuke: (He smirked in amusement at this outburst after swallowing another bite of his meal.) There’s always another year, Katsuto. You can be sure to dominate your competition then.

Sakura: In the meantime, you can continue to train hard until it comes time to take the exams again.

Katsuto: Heh, as if I really have to train to get strong! This is the Uchiha clan, Grandma! We were born destined for greatness!

Tsunade: (She shook her head at her son’s arrogance, though she still smiled in amusement.) Katsuto, you know that there’s no such thing as a birthright. Even your grandfather had to work hard to earn the position he has today.

Manako: Exactly. …Like being part of the Uchiha clan really has any advantages in the long run.

This was not the first time Manako had made such a proclamation when the entire clan was together like this, prompting everyone to stop eating or speaking and look up at him, wondering what would happen next. Scanning the table to find all eyes were on him, Manako quickly gulped down what was left of his tea and stand up to leave, prompting Katsuto to stand up, as well.

Katsuto: Hey, Manako! Where do you think you’re-

He was quickly grabbed and pulled down by his mother before he could go any further, lowering his head after looking and finding that she had a frown on her face. Across the table, Itachi stood up to follow him out, only to stop upon seeing his father’s outstretched palm.

Sasuke: I can take care of this, Itachi. You just sit down and continue eating.

After some hesitation, Itachi did as he was asked, taking another bite of his food as Sasuke left the room and turning to Sakura once he was gone.

Itachi: I’m deeply sorry, Mother.

Sakura: (She smiled at his concern and shook her head.) It’s perfectly alright, Itachi. …It’s not the first time he’s stormed out like this.

A short distance from the Uchiha estate, the also rejuvenated Naka Shrine sat in a relatively untouched spot near the borders of the village. While little attention was worth giving the two floors that rested above the ground, beneath them rested the secret chamber containing the famed Uchiha tablet, before which sat Manako. Though much of it remained undecipherable, that part which his Sharingan could read was enough to bring a heavy frown to his face, something his grandfather quickly noticed as he walked up beside him.

Sasuke: If that tablet only ever brings you despair, then why do you continue to visit it like this?

Though not entirely surprised by his intrusion, Manako still proceeded to glance up at him before returning his eyes to the stone monument before him, his frown remaining fixed on his face all the while.

Manako: Does it not for you, as well?

Sasuke: It did. That’s why I destroyed the previous tablet and replaced it with this more…historically accurate record of events.

Manako: (The revelation that what he was staring at was merely a rendition only served to deepen his scowl.) I wager the contents of that tablet were a thousand times worse than what’s written here on this one.

Sasuke: (It could hardly be called a joke, but he still proceeded to smirk after Manako said it.) …Actually, they’re not entirely far off.

He proceeded to stare down at Manako for the longest time as he, in turn, stared at the tablet resting in front of him. As he watched him, a feeling of nostalgia began surging through his mind, one which brought a smile to his face as he joined him in scanning the tablet.

Sasuke: You and Itachi really are a lot alike.

Manako: (His curiosity piqued, he looked up at him in question.) …My father?

Sasuke: …Your uncle, actually.

His answer caused Manako’s eyes to widen slightly. He had heard Sasuke speak of Itachi the First several times before, always in an overly positive light, but his shared detestation of their clan was something that had never reached his ears until now.

Sasuke: My brother was only half your age when he first saw the original tablet. Like you, he grew to detest this clan for their dark history and ultimately went on to sever his ties with them completely.

Manako: And how did he go about doing that?

Sasuke: …By massacring them all.

Yet another subject Sasuke had failed to bring up before, Manako continued to look up at him in surprise, both at the information he was bestowing and the fact that he now seemed to be tarnishing his own brother’s name. Seeing this in his eyes, Sasuke quickly dismissed this misinformation from his mind.

Sasuke: Itachi was a special kind of shinobi, Manako. Make no mistake, he loved his family dearly and wanted nothing more than for them and the village to live together peacefully. When it came down to the wire, though, he realized that the protection of all the clans in the village was more important than the prosperity of just the one. …It took me a very long time to understand why he would go that far in exchange for that much suffering, but…in the end, he never regretted a single action he made for this village, …nor will I.

Manako: (Though touched by his words, he still neglected to see what about his words related to the subject at hand and proceeded to question this.) And where comes the part where I should think more kindly of this cursed clan and the line of hatred they spawn with each new generation? …What’s to admire about a group of shinobi that only gains power through the suffering of both themselves and the ones they love most?

Sasuke: (He understood Manako’s feelings, but still proceeded to shake his head in disagreement of them.) The Uchiha clan will always have the capacity to spawn hatred, Manako. And it’s true that, from this hatred, we obtain these red eyes, …but it’s also true that we have the potential to spread a love that far surpasses that encouraged by our ancestral brethren, the Senju. …It’s up to the head of each generation to decide which of those legacies they’ll entrust their descendants to carry on.

Having said all he came to say, Sasuke turned around to leave, looking back down at Manako as he did.

Sasuke: Come on. Your father and grandmother are probably worried about you.

Manako: …I’d rather stay here a while longer.

Sasuke: (He stared down at him for a moment before walking away, pondering why he would continue to brood over these ideas when they brought him such misery.) …If that’s what you wish.

Manako continued to sit there for several minutes after Sasuke left, going over both his words and those written on the tablet in his head countless times. When he had finally had his fill of thought on this matter, he stood up and left the shrine with his hands stuffed in his pockets, his grandfather’s words still fresh on his mind.

Manako: (Love or hatred…hmph, if it’s such a simple choice, then why do those like Madara Uchiha always pick the latter? …Is it really that easy to make, …Mom?)

Manako recognizes the dark history of his clan, like his granduncle before him!!!

Good but long legs for a manga should have been maybe a quarter shorter but good style. Your really thinking about your background the world (naruto, your version). I can see this being something that could run in the press.

What're you talkin' bout, I probably couldn't fill 14 pages with this chapter (are you sure you've read my other ones, cause they're eons longer). lol

Yeah, it kinda sucks cause a lot of things I had planned for my "ending" are starting to look less likely to actually happen now (like Obito using the Outer Path to revive everyone), but I guess I don't have to follow it fact-for-fact.

You're really stuck on this manga idea, aren't you? lol Well, I appreciate it, man*_*

Appreciate it, man*_*

A shorty today huh but I had meaning wanna see what path manako takes
Yeah, but there's not a lot happening, so what're you gonna do? lol Thanks, man*_*

Yeah, some of the paths certain characters take later on should surprise a few readers. Whose descendant you are means nothing here;) lol

I can’t say it enough times, how sorry I am for my long absence -_-

That aside, let’s move onto my review :) First of all, you started this chapter off with the Uchiha clan and that is just a beautiful thing as if you didn’t know, I’m the number one Sasuke fan/supporter there is, thus anything to do with him or his clan is a high unlike any other! =D I’m LOVING the inclusion of Sasuke and his wife Sakura! Superb job choosing them as a couple due to their cannon relationship! ^^ I’m also LOVING the character development! I liked how Sasuke’s brief conversation was able to have an effect on Manako. That being said, I was saddened that it still wasn’t enough to sway him as he continues to struggle much like a younger Sasuke. Hopefully he will in the near future come to accept his clan for the past and since then till now and be better for it. I was wondering who Manako’s mother was and can’t remember as it’s been quite a while if you’ve ever tapped on this situation but it appears that she’s deceased -_-

I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter! ;) And I have MUCH to still catch up to XD

Don't be:) It's just refreshing to get to read your feedback once again. Always a pleasure*_* lol

Indeed you have addressed that*_* Yeah, that was just an obvious one, especially after the manga pretty much cemented Naruto and Hinata's future relationship. And starting on Chapter 52, I actually changed a lot of stuff like names and relationships around, so be ready for that. A little compulsive on my part, but I assure you I didn't change everything to be canon (I got my own synopsis on my group page still if you wanna get an idea of what I changed, but I suggest looking away from the biographies - I got lazy and decided to just post everything for the main cast, including some huge spoilersO_O lol).

Well, more like a young Itachi, but yes;) lol Manako's got an interesting road ahead of him, I can say that, and yes, his mother died before this series began (I've already delved into it in chapters that are out now). I'm actually quite pleased with the manga's ending, cause it opened me up to a lot of very interesting twists and turns for both him and Airon*_*

Thank you and I’m glad you feel that way about my reviews! ^^

Yeah, I just finished reading chapter 52 and could see what you meant :) I see, I may just have to take a look at that group page and thanks for the heads up ;) Oh my bad lol I suppose Manako’s persona is more like Itachi being so nonchalant among other things :) I’m happy to hear that there will be intersting things coming up for Manako’s character and I’m also eager to read about his mother! It’s great to hear that the manga ending only opened up possibilities for your story! ;)
