Alright, Sabure’s back again=D Two more matches to go, and the next one has a bit of history to go along with it. Anyways, enjoy:)

Here’s my previous chapters, for those who missed any:

Chapter 042: The Real Ultimate Shield

As soon as B started the match, Sabure clasped her hands together in preparation for a jutsu, prompting her hot-headed opponent to throw two lighting-charged kunai, which she dodged, before charging forward.

Tomoi: Ha! Don’t expect me to make it that easy for you!

Not allowing her time to form another hand sign, Tomoi dashed up beside her and drove her katana into her left side as those on the balconies looked on in shock. To her own surprise, though, no matter how hard she pushed inward, her sword refused to even graze her opponent’s flesh.

Tomoi: (What the hell? My sword…it won’t budge!)

As her fruitless efforts continued, those watching from above began assessing the situation themselves.

Nakama: (That was a close call.)

Airon: (He nodded in agreement before turning to his rival for more information.) (Can you tell what it is, Manako?)

Manako: (He immediately complied and activated his Sharingan, scanning the area of her body where Tomoi’s sword connected before turning back to him with a surprised look in his eyes.) (It’s…glass.)

As Airon expressed his own astonishment at such a bizarre technique, his grandfather did the same from a short distance away.

Naruto: That’s a pretty strange jutsu. …Is that the kekkei genkai I’ve heard so much about?

Gaara: (To Naruto’s surprise, he responded with a smile and a shake of his head, rather than a nod.) Not quite. …It’s actually a kekkei tōta, one of only two known to exist.

Naruto: (Having not even heard the technique’s title in such a long time, his eyes widened in complete surprise.) A kekkei…tōta?

Gaara: (He nodded to confirm his words.) Like Dust Release, Sabure’s Glass Release combines the natures of earth, wind, and fire to form its signature technique, though the results are far more different in structure. Whereas Dust Release creates a small, transparent object that can disintegrate anything, hers creates an extremely dense glass which, up to this point in time, is believed to be completely impenetrable. …Believe me, Naruto, when we first discovered this skill in her, I tried everything I could to test its limitations…and not once have I ever managed to break through it.

Turning his attention back towards the match as Gaara finished, Naruto observed Tomoi’s attempts to hack through her opponent a moment longer before smiling in amusement.

Naruto: So I guess that means you don’t have the ultimate shield anymore, huh, Gaara?

Gaara: (The notion couldn’t help but bring a smile to his face, as well.) …You might say that.

Down below, Tomoi’s struggles finally ceased as she pulled back to regain some of her exhausted strength, bringing Sabure’s longstanding grin into her viewpoint for the first time. As her opponent scowled in response, she held out her forearms out in front of her, overlapping them as they, too, slowly became encased in glass.

Sabure: Guess it’s my turn.

She charged forward just as Tomoi had done before, prompting the latter to leap out of the way as she swung one of her arms out at her. No time left to consider a new strategy, she quickly began channeling more lightning-enhanced chakra through her katana, deciding to face her advance head-on.

Tomoi: Bring it on, then, *****!

She ran towards her opponent as she held her katana out behind her, prompting Sabure to do the same with one of her arms. As they came within each other’s range, they brought their weapons forward and metal and glass collided, their duel ending with half of Tomoi’s sword flying through the air and landing several meters away.

Tomoi: What!? (No! My sword!)

No sooner after she made this exclamation, she was brought to the floor with a swing of Sabure’s leg, who proceeded to hold her makeshift blades against her skin, one at the throat and one at the center of the chest. After a few seconds of standing there staring at her now fear-stricken opponent, her menacing expression was replaced by one of amusement and satisfaction.

Sabure: Hmhmhm, don’t feel too bad about it. My grandfather’s been trying to break this glass ever since I started using it. …To this day, I’ve yet to find anybody who can actually do it, so don’t look so shocked when your sword couldn’t pull it off, either.

Airon: (Overhearing this from above, the idea of it brought a wicked grin to his face as he turned towards his rival.) (That almost sounds like a challenge to me.)

Manako answered with a smile as he watched Sabure pull back and slowly begin dissolving the glass around her arms, their proctor having already determined the results of the match.

B: The winner is…Sabure!

While those up above stared at the victor, impressed with her skills, she stuck around a moment longer to help her opponent off the floor, a gesture Tomoi reluctantly accepted before they returned to their respective balconies. For Sabure, this was met with many congratulatory remarks, which she accepted with a smile that quickly disappeared as she approached her twin brother.

Sabure: Was that merciless enough for you?

Ryūza: (He made no attempts to raise his head as he stood there, arms bent over the railing as he watched her draw closer.) You did good, Sabure. …You did good.

Gaara: I would say she did very good.

Surprised, Sabure turned around to find her grandfather standing behind her, his hand now rested on her shoulder and a smile etched across his face, the latter of which she returned after a brief pause.

Sabure: Thanks, Grandpa.

While Gaara conversed with his grandchildren a moment longer before returning to Naruto’s side, Tomoi was still making her way up the staircase, clearly trying her best to perfect a look of utter disappointment. Z was slow to pick up on this as she returned to his side, his sights focused more on the skills of her opponent and how fun it might be to fight her himself.

Z: Damn, she sure got it good, don’t she?

He turned to Tomoi to see her reaction, finding her slumped over the railing and prompting him to grasp her shoulder and start shaking her gently.

Z: Hey now, you gave it your all, girl. Don’t go sittin’ on it so long that your ass starts hurtin’.

Tomoi: (She blushed heavily and nodded in response, though in all honesty, she could barely hear his words over her own thoughts.) Uhh, right. (Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh…)

As the two settled in once again, everyone turned their attention back towards B on the arena floor. The air of mystery these moments previously held had now vanished, as the possibilities for the next match-up had boiled down to only one, leaving the spectators with nothing else but anticipation.

B: Alright, we only got two more genin left to fight, so Imma need Gisuke and Nakama to make their way on down so we can end this whole shindig!!

While her nameless opponent wasted no time heading down the staircase, Nakama decided to wait until her friends’ pool had been decided before joining him.

Kei: Okay, last bet! I’ll throw down thirty ryō to Nakama for one second!

Minto: (He smiled in amusement at Kei’s rashness before giving his own bet some thought.) Hmhm, I think that’s a little TOO much faith, Kei. …I’ll say five seconds.

Inase: I’ll make it four.

Airon: (He looked down at the pile of ryō between them, then down at B before setting his eyes back on Nakama and smiling.) From the beginning of the match to the official results, …I’ll say sixteen seconds.

Nakama returned the gesture before taking off, while those around him looked up at him in surprise, thrown off by the unusually long time span he selected.

Inase: (You of all people, Airon?)

Airon: (His decision not fazed in the slightest, he smiled in amusement as he stared down at the arena floor.) (Hmhm, believe me, Inase. …Those extra fifteen seconds will have their use.)

Nakama slowly made her way down the staircase and towards her starting position, meanwhile on the corner of the opposite balcony, several more prominent shinobi, including the Kage, commented on the timing of the match.

Kitsuchi: It’s finally nearing the end.

Kurotsuchi: Hmhm, almost seems like it flew by.

Darui: Yeah, it does. …Let’s hope the last match isn’t too dull of a sendoff.

The others nodded in agreement before turning their attentions back to the arena, Nakama having finally taken her position. They each began evaluating the two genin based on their appearances, the looks on their faces clearly showing that their overall verdict was not in Nakama’s favor.

Mei: Hmhm, well, this match would seem to be a given. I mean, look at that poor girl. You could hardly tell she was a ninja without that forehead protector around her waist.

Konohamaru: (Amused at her unawareness, he smiled before leaning his body further over the railing.) Trust me, Mei, …Nakama’s the LAST book you need judge by its cover.

Nakama is the last to fight, …but are her powers as great as the others say!!?

The End

As I thought, both opponents appear to be fiery! =D Due to my horrific memory, I can’t for sure whether or not you’ve already displayed this unique kekkei genkai but I like the idea! :) And from Gaara’s comment, it’s even more spectacular to be so rare ^^ Wow, and this release seemingly contains the strongest impenetrableness to boot! At the moment when Tomoi’s sword broke due to the impact against Sabure’s glass formation-I was like, Tomoi has this match lost. And so the win went to Sabure :) Airon’s statement about considering to break through Sabure’s glass as a challenge was amusing lol Gaara’s granddaughter is one of kind! =D The final matchup is interesting and I’m eager to see what happens next ;)

Yeah, she used it in the Forest of Death, but I added a bit more info about it in this chapter. It makes for a pretty interesting challenge for Airon and Manako later on:) Appreciate the feedback and hope you enjoy Nakama, too*_*
