Today, Namco Bandai Games Europe has published a press release in regards to the Naruto Generations Card Edition. We’ve been hearing about this European-exclusive for a little while know and have been waiting some more details. The press release below provides a little more information, but not enough to gratify our curiosity. We hope even more on this will be released soon.
In case you are wondering where to buy, from our understanding this will be available across video game selling retailers in Europe. Since the European release date is March 30th, over a month away, some retailers may not have actually put this in their system.
There is no word on a North American release date. As far as we know, GameStop USA will be offering one card, but that’s it.
From launch day on 30th March 2012, NARUTO fans will be able to get their hands on the exclusive NARUTO SHIPPUDEN: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations Card Edition alongside the standard retail version of the game.
For the first time in the Naruto video Game series, NARUTO SHIPPUDEN: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations will feature an innovative system that integrates real-world collectible cards with the video game. The cards from the booster pack will each carry a code allowing players to unlock corresponding artwork for their in-game profile card and engage in a special mini-battle to unlock a bonus skill and gain an advantage in the network battle.
This Card Edition will include: a card Starter Set, a poster with an exclusive message from Masashi Kishimoto celebrating the 10 million units sales of the Naruto Video games from NAMCO BANDAI Games and the game disc with a card booster pack.
The Starter set contains a complete ready-to-play deck of 50 cards, Instruction book, Play sheet and Poster. (The cards that come with the Starter Set do not carry the password that links to the videogame.)
The booster pack contains 8 cards inside, from the selection of 120 cards in total, and it will be offered in both Day 1 standard edition and Card Edition of the game. Cards in the Booster PKG are fully compatible with the video game.

The February 23rd Japanese release date is less than a week away! In order to become the best ninja they can, players will have the option to purchase a Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations strategy guide. It will contain information on how to complete the story mode as well as how to perform attacks for each character. As a bonus, and this is something that can be seen right on the cover below, players will be able redeem a special Generations custom theme for their console and a Tailed Beast Chakra Mode Naruto trading card. The strategy guide will make it’s Japanese retail debut on the day the game releases for 1,300 yen (around $16 USD).
We tried searching for a North American and European version of the strategy guide, but no luck. Looks like this is a Japan-exclusive item.

yes but story mode will be a lot better just go battle to battle without all the walking aroundIn generations do you have to ply through all of the series? From the beginning of Naruto to the Kage arc in Shippuden?
It doesn’t get any more official then a confirmation from Naruto manga publisher Shueisha! Under their V-Jump label, they state Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations will have 72 playable characters. That’s 3 less than the 75 Namco Bandai Games America had in their features list. We’re a bit disappointed the number 75 was provided since it got out hopes up. What’s more disappointing is GameStop USA, who generally gets their information from publishers, explicitly lists 75 as well, adding the fact that is 33 more than Storm 2.
We highly doubt it, but could it be the the USA version will be different from Japan? Or is the 72 mentioned by V-Jump just the number of characters in their strategy guide? Those are two very plausible reasons for the difference in numbers. However, our guess is neither as we have to respectfully say Namco Bandai Games America could have just made a mistake. The number 5 is above the 2 on the keyboard numberpad, after all. Plus, when we think back, our hometown publisher did mention DBZ Ultimate Tenkaichi would allow players to create female characters, which ended up being untrue. We’ll have to wait and see what unfolds, but we really would love for our guess to be wrong!
As for now, what characters are confirmed? The 71 listed on this page are 100% confirmed playable. As for the 72nd? We believe it is Kabutomaru is based on CC2′s indication. It’s likely we will find out sometime soon as the One Piece scan from the the latest issue of Shonen Jump indicates there will be a Generations scan as well.
And oh, yes, before we forget, here is an image from V-Jump. Under point 1 it says there will be a thorough explanation of all 72 playable characters and their tactics in the Generations strategy guide. Then point 2 and 3, which are unrelated to characters, highlight that there will be a bonus custom theme for consoles and Naruto trading card that will come with the Generations strategy guide.
