I got that idea too from the manga, that he was dying when he named the successor. I'm going to re read the chapter to see if I'm crazy.

I don't mind that. Gives me hope they animate Gaiden and a couple of novels.

Hopefully Kishi helps them with filler for chapter 699, because it moved on WAY too fast.
