Wow this was quite a surprise for a filler. It's a shame that Kishi never did this in the manga because now I actually care about Karin's character a lot more. Kishi just has way too many characters in the manga that aren't fleshed out like this so before I never gave a damn about her lol.
Kinda weird to say but this was also the first time I wasn't annoyed by Karin liking Sasuke all the time. At least now she has some reasoning behind why she's obsessed. It seems like Sasuke is the only person who never used her as a tool (until the fight with Danzo that is).

I watched it after reading the comments saying that it was disturbing.
And I agree. It was disturbing. It's one thing to see abuse like that in canon for character developmemt's sake, and something totally different when it's so far off what the story should have been.
Every "dream" shown by Kishi was a fantasy of the person trapped in the genjutsu. Why did Karin have such a tragic and painful one? Why wasn't her fantasy shown? SP afraid of alienating the fans of SS? (since most of us could guess at the fantasy.)
Showing weird guys biting a little girl was too much like child abuse/pedophilia 2/5

It was a weird episode. It was more of a backstory flashback than a genjutsu dream and has that minor aspect added into it with an alternate ending. It didn't really make sense. They need to pick one or the other, not mash them together in a derpy manner. The genjutsu also failed her and caused more of a nightmare than anything.
