Re: Naruto Shippuden Episode 319 "The Living Soul Inside the Puppet" – Discussion
I wish this fight could have been 2 episodes, so we could have gotten flashbacks and a legitimate fight back and forth between Chiyo and Kankuro.
If I weren't anticipating Madara's return so much, then yes, I'd agree. However, I'm ready to escape filler-ville.
++ That's how flashbacks are supposed to be orchestrated; it provided intriguing and insightful background, it was suspenseful when Chiyo entered the dark room Sasori was working in, and it hit you right in the feels (albeit, it didn't hit very hard, but hit nonetheless). Well done.
++ The taijutsu scenes were entertaining.
++ The ending was humorous.
-- Kimimaro killed a couple fodders and then suddenly seemed to have disappeared. Pointless...
-- Sakura went back with Kankurō to retrieve the puppets (Sasori, Mother, and Father). When would she have had time to do this? She still looked beat up from the fight earlier on during the Sasori vs Sakura+Chiyo battle, indicating that it wasn't long after. The only time I can reason that both she and Kankurō could've gone is right after Gaara's revival before returning to the Hidden Village of Sand. Additionally, I can't envision only Sakura and Kankurō going to retrieve the puppets alone. It just seems... off.
-- Kankurō's monologue regarding the souls that still dwelt within the Mother and Father puppets was too long winded. It could've been wrapped up in three statements/sentences for the sake of conciseness.
It was one of the better fillers we've seen in a while, no doubt. However, almost no filler is without its problems.
I give it a healthy 4/5.
