Poor Yota, it's sad. But when I saw young Kabuto I was like: Ooh...he doesn't look bad :) Now he is really creepy. Even Orochimaru wasn't as creepy as Kabuto is know.

You guys are so butthurt over fillers, I personally think this last one was alright. Yota's story was sad.

This episode is the best among 3 parts, but its still bad, cause Yota overall is annoying as hell.

Actually this Month of May is the Worst Fillers by far because they wasted war potential for crappy ass fillers that Kabuto summoned random Shinobi that we don't give a dam since its too irrelevant to the war arc.

June looks totally promising, we get to see even Torune for a setup, which I find it really good for a filler arc, I can't wait for epic war!! =D

I have never cried so hard in my life like this. Yes, Yota was annoying but when I realized how sad this scene was all that was going through my mind is if I had a friend like that, and I lost him the same way I would've been hurt. Also how he erased their memory, that's probably what hit me hard, how Naruto had to restart from the bottom.

So it turns out Naruto was friends with some of the other 9 before the story actually began. Oh but of course mind erase and *poof*.
Fking filler...but that sad music at the end always gets to me. Not the worst filler ever, but the next ones look a bit more promising.

Yota is sweet!:x3: The end was really sad, I almost cried! :T_T: The next episode is promising, we'll see Chiyo and Torune...

Ep. made me cry. One of the saddest fillers I've ever seen. :T_T:

That was a very emotional filler.

As TheVermin observed, the only reason the episode tugged at your heartstrings was due to the strategically placed soundtracks. Without the well chosen music selection, you probably would've thought that the dialogue and Yota's character development were both cliche' and cheesy as hell. During the river crossing, I thought that the soundtrack "A Crisis After Another" was a bit over-the-top for the situation at hand. It just didn't fit in comparison with the several examples of when this soundtrack was used in canon during many scenes involving Gaara.

The sad soundtrack at the end, "Man of the World" is similarly one of my favorite sad soundtracks utilized in canon, so it does indeed provoke the intended emotional output even when there's not a whole lot of cathexis associated with the character(s) involved.

Overall, I gave this filler episode a 3/5 for a few reasons. Firstly, it's the end of the Yota filler arc. I know this is a dumb reason to like an episode, but it's like finishing your last mile in an exhausting marathon... that last mile is perceived as the most enjoyable. Even though I didn't think the filler material was worthy of the epic soundtracks chosen, the soundtracks were still very well placed. The other reason that this episode receives its third and final star is this: we got to see more exposure to the Sakura and Ino relationship back in the day when they were still close friends. We haven't seen that since the Chunnin Exams!

Thumbs up for seeing that Shikimaru wasn't a douche to Naruto even back in his youth.
Thumbs down for seeing the Kagemane no Jutsu used improperly. When Shikimaru moves, so should the individuals he attaches himself to with his shadow. When he ran forward and the ANBU members weren't moving, I thought,

so those two points concerning Shikamaru cancel out and neither retract a star nor provide one.

I don't like filler episodes much .. but I thought it was interesting how she was reanimated by oro earlier in the series. I've been wondering why her eyes were black ! Lol

I guess they want to filler up as much, so they won't have to stop the anime midway through, like they did with Bleach and Fairy Tail.

I mean, would you guys want a filler midway during the Juubi/Obito/Madara fights? I don't think so.
Stop complaining.

2/5

+ N/A :(
+ N/A Zzz
+ OK, on this one there was a little bit of action. :yeah:

- Shikamaru couldn't tree climb nor walk on water, but he could do the Shadow Imitation technique. . . :erm:
- The scene with the ANBU was. . . :omg:
- On the end, Orochimaru was behind it. :|

These episodes with Yota really, really, really disappointed me. . . my head hurts because of them. :nexus:

4/5 from me. Looking back at these 3 episodes, they weren't that bad. Although the first ep was annoying with all the crying.

The story honestly moved me a little bit. I also lol'd for some reason when Yota struck those ANBU down :p. As said by someone above the music was pretty good too. For some reason I also had the impression the animation was a little better than before. Don't know if that's actually the case though. And of course it's nice to see little Naruto being all alone don't care that it's not canon).

Next month looks quite promising. We'll see Torune and that other guy, Shiyo apparently and a flashback of Kabuto going body hunting.

Simply why these fillers have to cover such dumb and mindless scenarios? It would be far better if there was a regular fighting shown on different fronts with heroes' skills presented instead of semi-nostalgic, "thought-up" stories just to cover a week of anime. Manga has skipped very many plots and interesting fights that could be covered up well enough in anime, but hell not, lets not get into it since we can add some Yota crap. Hopefully the upcoming anime is better, at least it looks to be one.

1/5. A direct "NO" from Naruto fan to such fillers. I hope it doesn't get as wild as pre-shippuuden 2-year filler stack.
