It was alright. It show some depth of the childhood relationship. Pretty late in the game if you asked me, which is why someone would think its unnecessary.

I think it's a nice placement for the series. The end of the war/the manga story, reflecting on the childhood of key people to remember how far they came and their own personal sadness or what have you. Then we'll be in the last era then Boruto.

However I did find the ones before this pretty boring, I liked shikamaru's though. How they were friends wth Naruto but he can't go to their house because adults despise him. Choji standing up for Naruto was cool too. They needed more interaction as teens.

I didn´t like the Shikamaru-part all that much, since it wasn´t really about him, but about Naruto bonding with everybody. It was a bit funny and all, but it didn´t feel as centred on the titular character as the previous parts where...

The Gaara-part was pretty calm and sad, as expected.

What I don´t really get concerning the next episode is how a story about an adult Jiraiya fits into this "boyhood arc", I mean, Kakashi also doesn´t fit exactly since he is not from the genaration of Naruto, Sasuke, Gaara etc., but at least his part is about his boyhood. I would rather have Lee, Neji and others. But maybe we get them too in some of the next episodes...

The part where young Gaara was reaching out saying 'Momma' made me cry like a baby :sniff:
Nice episode. I like that there were new scenes and not just repeated flashbacks :win:

Good episode. A nice and calm childhood story, reminding us what these guys were before saving the world :)

Animation wasn't a catch. Stretched moments and somewhat too simple animations from time to time. For a childhood story, this was no more but ok. But since it had shikamaru in it, plus those three's funny moments-
4\5.
