Not really. It's the first time ever we see Sasuke trying to bond with his daughter after being 10+ years away. It's not boring at all, and the awkwardness in their interaction makes it interesting and not OOC.
Also, Sasuke had spent, canonically, more time with Boruto than with Sarada, his own daughter, so it's good that they get some development in their relationship.
Not all novels are illustrated by Kishi.
