We saw all of Obito's back story from his own eyes. He was an open book. Though, that's not to say a novel focusing on his younger days with his team and sensei wouldn't be cool as well.

We know literally nothing about Itachi aside from slanted points of views others have of him and that he was a serious shinobi/loves his bro/was self-sacrificial to an unhealthy degree/regretted some things in the end. Anbu/Konoha/Akatsuki missions are all a blank slate. Those weapons? His disease? Any contact with other people? Come to think of it... we literally do now nothing about him after he left the village for good. Minus a few of his plans. To top it off, he was the only character to be completely stoic in every scenario. So, we don't know his thoughts or mindset. These novels are usually written from the point of the view of the character they focus on- meaning that we'll get to read Itachi's thoughts in tough situations for the first time. It should be interesting.

ot: Kishimoto never writes these novels. They're not canon or meant to be taken seriously. Just something for fans, but nothing to look to in order to prove a point about a character. And nice to see another writer's point of view on the characters Kishimoto created.

It will be interesting to see another person's take on the situation then, I can only assume that he and Kishimoto at least talked about the subject a few times before he/she was allowed to write this.

I'm calling it now, Uzumaki village after eradicating their clan with Raikage, ANBU and Hanzo's forces. How else would Ay know about Amaterasu and gain possession of Sage's sealing tools..

I hope this novel explains how Itachi totsuka'd the remaining members of the Uzumaki clan, rendering them extinct (with the exception of Naruto and Karin). Seems really interesting.
