Chapter 31: Arrival
The main gates just outside of Konoha still remains with it's tall majestic stature. The gates are open wide, revealing the beautiful village within its walls.
“Can't believe we're back here already.” Koichi says. Koichi stands beside his teammates. He takes another step forward ahead of everybody and takes a deep breath through the nose. “I can already taste the ramen.” Koichi's eyes glow with anticipation.
*He's too much like him* Kankuro thinks to himself. “Alright, we came here early so that you guys could acclimate yourselves to the village and try to get a head start read on the other candidates in the exams.”
“It should be easy for us since we've already been here before.” Koichi says. “This will be a piece of cake.”
“You only saw the main district of the village for the most part before the attack. You need to do some more exploring and find out who your competition is.” Kankuro says.
“The main district is basically a tourist attraction for anybody who comes here, most other places in the village are probably restricted to the outside shinobi.” Koji says.
“There are certain limits but if your curiosity does overwhelm you, just don't get caught.”
Koichi opens his eyes and gets a wide sinister grin on his face. “Sensei are you actually condoning us to snoop around another village, even the restricted areas?” Koichi turns to faces Kankuro staring at him with his grin.
Kankuro takes a step back, freaked out from his student's grin. “Look just don't get yourselves in trouble.” Kankuro says.
“Don't worry, we'll be discrete...I think we should split up and make it like a game.” Koichi says. “We'll meet back up at the hotel at night fall and whomever has found out the most wins.”
“Whatever.” Ryoko says with no enthusiasm.
“If you want to do that then you guys better get going, Koji's already taken a head start.” Kankuro points to the spot where Koji was and Koichi and Ryoko notice him gone already.
“When did he? Ah forget it!” Koichi says angrily. He leaps into the village scaling the roof tops of the village.
Kankuro sighs and shakes his head, “He's not being very discrete.” Kankuro and Ryoko continue on through the gates and make their way into the village. Only 3 days left before the Chuunin Exams.
~At the Training Grounds of Konoha~
Koji makes his way through the training district of the village. He looks upon the several gates of the leading into the training grounds.
“You, Suna shinobi!” A voice shouts from behind Koji. Koji turns to see three young shinobi his age facing him across from the field. The three all don Konoha headbands; the shinobi in the center with his long spiky blond hair tied in a ponytail stares at Koji with blank white eyes. “What business do you have here?”
Koji stares back at the shinobi with a calm expressionless demeanor. “I'm lost.” Koji utters plainly. The blond haired shinobi grits his teeth and looks upon Koji with an even more intense annoyance in his eyes.
The dark haired kunoichi behind snickers at her leader. “He's pretty funny Jiraiya-Nii.”
“Quiet Hime, he's a foreign shinobi who has no business being here.” Jiraiya says sternly. The girl Hime, possesses the same blank white eyes as Jiraiya, however her hair is dark blue.
“I concur with Jiraiya, his position here is suspicious.” The last shinobi to the right of Jiraiya dons a long black trench coat, the bottom half of his face is covered in a long black mask and his eyes concealed behind thin black sunglasses. “We should take him to Neji-sensei.”
“I think you guys are overreacting, he's probably here for the exams in a few days, maybe he is actually lost.” Hime says in Koji's defense.
“Are you really that much of an idiot Hime?” Jiraiya shouts off.
“What was that?!” The kunoichi yells, infuriated. “You got a lot of nerve talking to me like that blonde!”
“I said never to call me that!” The two siblings turn to each other, Jiraiya's serious yet calm demeanor escalates to a hot headed one as well as Hime's generally loose attitude. As the two siblings argue with each other Koji turns around and begins walking again on his way. After a few steps Koji stops and tilts his head to the left as a kunai passes right by his head. Koji turns his head back towards the shinobi, his eyes gleaming with hostility. “Where do you think you're going?” Jiraiya's tone has returned to his original state as well as his tense look towards Koji.
“I already told you I was lost.” Koji reaches down his leg to the pouch on the side pulling out a kunai slowly.
Jiraiya's eyes intensify as the veins around his eyes bulge out visible and the thin outlining of his pupil can be seen. “Don't feed me that crap, I'm not like my sister.”
Koji slides out the kunai and in a swift movement he begins to rotate around quickly, attempting to launch his kunai towards the shinobi. The moment, Koji cringes his body to begin that motion, Jiraiya darts out towards him at an amazing speed. Jiraiya shoots towards his left, the opposite side of Koji's rotating momentum.
*So quick!* Koji plants his foot right foot as he spins a quarter of the way around and quickly grips his kunai and he begins to rotate the other way to intercept Jiraiya. As Koji comes back around, Jiraiya holds out his palm and stops as he ducks to launch a spear hand into Koji's ribs. Koji spins his body again, back into the direction he originally was turning in and appears to avoid the spear hand. Jiraiya's eyes shift quickly and he changes the formation of his hand, bending his wrist and moving it to the side, his fingers jabbing Koji in the ribs and releasing a burst of chakra into him. Koji is knocked back onto the ground.
Koji tries to get up however his body hesitates due to slight numbness in his legs. Just then Jiraiya shoots out towards Koji again and as Koji stands he launches two palm strikes, one into his left shoulder and the lower right rib cage and Koji is knocked back onto the ground. Koji pants heavily as he feels a sudden weakness, as if his energy had been drained. Jiraiya walks up to Koji and stands over top of him.
“Don't even try to move or I won't be as merciful.”
“Come on Jiraiya you're too aggressive, too easy to shoot off the handle. You're like a bad combination of sensei and dad, really and that's not a compliment.” Hime says.
“I don't care, I'm naturally skeptic and after what happened a while back I have to the right to be!” Jiraiya shouts back at his sister. “I know there are shinobi here for the exams, but it's suspicious that a shinobi would be snooping around our training fields, this is for the shinobi of our village, not them!”
“Such a hot head sometimes.” Hime says.
“Jiraiya, Hime!” The masked shinobi yells pointing to where Koji lay on the ground. Jiraiya turns back around and Hime turns her attention to the point as well, only to see Koji nowhere to be found.
“What the hell happened?” Jiraiya says shifting his eyes all over the place looking for Koji.
In a tree, deep within the training field several meters away, Koji lay hidden. He looks upon the three shinobi. “I can see genjutsu doesn't work on any of you.” Koji says laying in the tree. Koji stands up in the large tree and turns around to see the three shinobi standing behind him.
“Not really.” Hime says. “I mean I'm the only person in the group who can cast it, I have a better perception then my brother or Hi here, but we're all pretty capable of picking it up for the most part.”
“Hime be quiet, we don't need to tell him how we operate, that was his whole goal.” Jiraiya says.
“Lighten up, he already knows his jutsu won't work on us. It's rare to see another genjutsu user though, I am impressed.”
“Konoha's Hyuuga clan...and Aburame I suspect, based on the attire.” Koji says looking at the three.
“How do you know of us?” Hi asks looking at Koji, his classes gleaming in the sun.
“Unfortunately your beliefs that I haven't been here before are wrong. I have been to Konoha before, as a matter of fact I was here when your village was attacked. You're clans aren't exactly hidden, we Suna shinobi are told general information about the clans in other nations as well.” Koji says. “Not only that but when I saw the Hokage with my sensei there were several other shinobi in his office, of which I can pretty much link to you.”
Koji drops from the tree and begins to walk away. Jiraiya and his team drop as well and watch as Koji walks away. “There was a shinobi dressed in the same manor as you, I believed his name was Shino.” Koji says referring to Hi. “There was also another shinobi there who had the same eyes as the two of you.” referring to Jiraiya and Hime. Just as Koji exists the gates he turns his head and looks back, directly at the two siblings. “And I'm not sure about this other hunch I have, but I can definitely tell you two are twins and you sound a lot like my brother. I'll see you at the exams I hope.” Koji disappears using Shunshin.
“Wow, he's pretty smart.” Hime says.
“Hime will you ever shut up and think, this guy—”
“I know Jiraiya, I know. This guy is amazingly perceptive. He's only been here twice but he's got all three of us down pegged when it comes to our heritage and now, our abilities involving genjutsu. He's going to be a problem in the exams.” Hime admits, her tone and expression rather focused at this point.
“He's rather quick as well and I don't believe genjutsu is his only means of fighting, judging from the way he dealt with your clone Jiraiya.” Hi says. Outside of the training field, the three clones disperse, two shadow clones of Jiraiya and Hime and a bug clone of Hi. “I'll try to conduct some more research on him, but I wasn't able to plant a female on him before he left.”
“Don't worry about it we have other things to take care of before the exams.” Jiraiya says.
~Night Falls~
Night hangs over Konoha as Koichi walks through the main district dragging his body looking exhausted. “Damn, I couldn't find out anything.” Koichi complains. “These Konoha guys are pretty sharp I couldn't make it too far past the main district.”“Koichi?” A voice says from behind. Koichi turns and sees Temari, Pakura, and Jo walking up behind him along with another shinobi.
“Temari, Pakura, Jo? What are you doing here?” Koichi asks surprised. “I thought we were the only people from Suna to make it here this early.”
“We convinced sensei to bring us here earlier. We've been here for days” Pakura says. Koichi turns and sees the other shinobi with them baring the Konoha headband.
“Who's this guy?” Koichi points rudely.
“This is my little brother Tenzen.”
“Brother?! You have a brother?” Koichi looks upon the young shinobi. The boy is small standing just below the chest of his older sister. “How old is he?”
“I'm 7.” The boy says in a small voice. He has a lazy tired look on his face. “Nee-chan can we go home now, I'm really tired.”
“Oh how cute.” Koichi says smiling. “But how did a kid like you become a ninja so young.” Koichi asks in a patronizing voice.
As Koichi kneels down and looks at the child, Tenzen looks back at him angered. “Can I ask how an idiot like you became a shinobi?” the boy shoots back in a sarcastic tone.
“What was that?!” Koichi says.
“I'm not just some little kid like you and everybody else seems to think I am. *sigh* what a drag, I can't even get the slightest amount of respect.” The child says. He walks past Koichi and Koichi shoots back a glare at the boy. “I'm going home nee-chan I'll tell mom you'll be coming later.”
Koichi continues to stare at the boy while he walks away. “Cute kid.” he says sarcastically.
“Don't pay him any mind Koichi. He thinks because he's some sort of genius he's special. He complains too much, he's so troublesome sometimes with that big head of his.”
*I can see how they're related* Koichi thinks to himself. “What did you mean by genius?” Koichi asks.
“They gave him an IQ test, he's pushing 170 something I don't know. I could care less.”
“170? He's pushing something like that at his age?!” Koichi says in awe.
“I don't care. Anyway we got to get going, we'll see you at registration in a few days.” Temari says walking past Koichi. Pakura and Jo follow close behind her.
Koichi lets out a big sigh and begins walking again. “At least I found out something.” He says somewhat disappointed. Koichi continues on his way and eventually makes it back to the hotel. He sees Kankuro standing in the lobby waiting and heads towards him. “Am I the first one back?”
“No, Ryoko's up in her room.” Kankuro says. “We're still waiting on Koji though.”
“Sorry I'm late.” Koji says walking into the inn. “I passed the hospital and I wanted to try and get a sense of the methods used in Konoha's medical facilities.”
“They let you see their medical practices?” Koichi asks.
“Sure.” Koji says sarcastically walking past him. Koichi glares at him as he walks past him. The three guys make it into their room, changing into their night garb and heading to bed.
“So what did you find out Koichi?” Koji asks.
“Well uhh, there's a kid taking the exams, he's only 7 but he's apparently some sort of genius.”
“Tenzen?” Koji asks curiously.
“How did you know his name?!” Koichi asks surprised.
“I saw him and Temari at the hospital when I was there. They were visiting their father.” Koji says.
Koichi pouts on his mat, “That's all I got...what about you?”
“There's some pretty strong shinobi taking these exams this rotation.” Koji says.
“Well that's vague! I know you saw something unless you're even more of a looser then I am...which wouldn't be so unbelievable if you weren't always number two.” Koichi mocks.
“I met one of the teams that are taking the exams...Based on what I could tell, taijutsu genjutsu and tracking specialists. Their skills range.” Koji says.
“What type of taijutsu do they use.” Koichi asks.
“Nothing you can't handle, I'm going to need a different handle to fight either of them though.”
“Now lets not talk about fighting just yet.” Kankuro says. “There's much more to the exams then just knowing how your opponents fight, it's about knowing the obstacles in your way and how you can get past them. You're not just going to be against other shinobi in these exams that's for sure.”
“What about Ryoko, I didn't see her anywhere.” Koichi asks.
“That's because she spent all her time here.” Kankuro says.
“What do you mean she spent all her time here? You mean she didn't even bother to try and find out any information or anything?” Koichi asks.
“I didn't say that.” Kankuro says cryptically.
Koichi scratches his head confused. “I don't get it.”
“She's a sensor Koichi.” Koji says. “She has the ability to sense other people's chakra. Simply sensing through the village, picking up shinobi chakra and deciphering their patterns of chakra she can determine their physical beings and mental capabilities based on their chakra. When the exams come, she can recognize the chakras she felt before and have a better sense of what people are working with. In a sense her method was the best out of the three of us.”
Koichi bangs his head several times on the wall annoyed, “So you're saying even doing nothing, she found out more then me?!”
Koji sighs and lays his head down on his mat looking up at the ceiling. Kankuro looks out the window to the bright moon looming over Konoha, wondering about Gaara back in Suna. The night continues on as the clock ticks down on the Chuunin Exams Arrival.

FORGIVE ME :T_T: I lied to you all about my release dates (not that I think anybody cares 
) but I said that this chapter and two others would be released last week but they weren't. I fell behind and I had them all done by Sunday, I was hoping on re-deeming myself, although three chapters in one day and my laziness to edit I said F*** it. Anyway, I'm just going to stick to my regular schedual. I hope you all like it. Please give me some details on what you liked, disliked, or think needs improvement here in my chapters. I really appriciate feedback. To those of you who read/comment/rep this post I thank you, enjoy
