I watch anime more than i read manga. I hear the manga is better but the Berserk anime is the sh**. The eclipse is easily the craziest scene I've ever seen in any show. I actually just finished last week so I'm going to start the manga because the show ends after the eclipse.

I also suggest watcing the remake of the Hunter X Hunter anime its awesome and the animation is top notch. The show seems really light-hearted but when it gets serious its gets awesome. Don't judge the show until you get to the Yorknew arc.

Honestly, I don't get the appeal of Seinen manga. Now I've never read one all the way through, but I don't really get the point of all the gore and sexual promiscuity. It seems way over the top and that is not the reason I read a manga for. When it comes to my preferences, I read a manga for the story above all else. Things like comedy, violence and light sexual references are welcomed, but they are not what I read them for. To be honest, I would assume that extreme gore and extremely frequent and graphic scenes of *** and nudity would be a way to attract an audience despite the quality of the story. To be more specific, I feel that things like that would be a means to cover up a bad story and still keep an audience.

Everyone says these manga have good stories behind them, but how are you supposed to get into a manga's story with all this terrible fluff to wade through? Now obviously the Japanese society is way more hardcore than we are. For them, these Seinen manga are standard rated R stuff for them, while for us its essentially rated X kinds of things. I know thats a generalization, but the point is that the Japanese are way more hardcore than us when it comes to violence and sexuality.

Either way, despite the fact that I am an adult and the target audience for a Seinen manga, I in no way would enjoy reading one all the way through. Such explicit scenes and tendencies would only turn me off of a good story, not keep me coming back for more.

I've only watched the berserk anime and i will admit the rape scenes are a little over the top sometimes. But the violence and gore make it seem more real and make the main characters look scary. There is also the shock value that comes along with it which I love.

ex: guts (main character) assassinates someone, the door opens, its a little kid. Without thinking guts drives the kid into the wall with his sword. I was just like "wtf" it was so shocking and sad but it made me like the show even more. It's not like other anime where a character is doesn't have the resolve to kill someone or something like that (I hate those scenes). I was so shocked by the climax of the show its just so messed and scary but it made you feel like one of the characters in the show. Usually I don't feel scared for the characters but all the main characters were dying and I was like "NO STOP!" It was just so intense

Also Kimblee is my favorite FMA character and Kisame is my 2nd fav Naruto character, so, good choice.

Well I understand you position. Basically you are saying that those scenes gave you a rush and you were high on adrenaline as those scenes transpired. I could say the same about the DeathNote Anime Finale. The scenes just became more and more intense and while there was violence, DeathNote never had anything too explicit or gut clenching, give or take 1 or two instances. My point is that while those moments might exist in Seinen manga, I feel strongly that overly excessive scenes of *** and violence will ultimately turn me off of the manga before I can get to the enjoyable parts.

Berserk and Vagabond and ... are WAY more then only gore scenes. The stories are insanely good!
