Okay So here we See Kakashi, Sakura, and Obito falling into the towards the lava and their isn't much distance between them and the lava at this point.

Then in the above Image.
So he while Kakashi's still falling he managed to pull out a Scroll and tie it to a Kunai and throw it upwards into the ceiling.
Then he grabs Sakura, after that he manages to pull out another kunai and throw it into Obito's Hand.
Just the time to tie a kunai around a scroll would be enough for them. You'd be dead at that point.
Unless He already had a Kunai attached to a scroll, but why would he do that it doesn't make much sense.

Then Kakashi thinks this is a Genjutsu. Then sees Sakura headband fall into the lava and melt.
And then he knows that its not a Genjutsu. But if it was a Genjutsu then the Kunai wouldn't have a melted?
So how does he know that from it melting.
