its subjective. of course there will be a lot more people saying Naruto is better than One Piece because it is a lot more popular in the US than One Piece. A lot of people that say Naruto probably never even seen One Piece. Each series has better qualities than the other.

Naruto has better fights and greater emotion while One Piece has a greater story and sense of adventure. I think most of us can agree that the character development in Naruto outside of Naruto and Sasuke is not great, also the current arc in Naruto isn't good at all. One Piece does not have characters killed off when it makes sense to have them dead, also you can say some characters lack complexity. Overall though, it comes down how the story is told and how appealing it is to the audience.

One Piece definitely performs at a higher level than Naruto. Oda (author of OP) is so great at foreshadowing and portraying messages. The problem is that most of the readers take it for granted and don't realize what the author saying until the point it is very important. There are some instances in One Piece that something happened, say in chapter 100, and much later in the story it is extremely significant to story later on, like chapter 400. Also, the theme of One Piece (Men's Dream, The Flow of Time, Inherited Will) is portrayed in so many arcs that once we come to realize it we are like OMG. Have you really heard a legitimate argument as to why One Piece isn't good? Everyone usually says its too long, characters don't die, or its too childish. Those are pretty bad arguments if you ask me.

The first series of Naruto was phenomenal. Every part of the first series I enjoyed, but Shippuden is a different story. Shippuden was built up for Sasuke vs. Naruto (Naruto being the one to turn Sasuke good, not someone else), but that has been shot down. So its like what is the point about everything that happened before Sasuke turned good? Characters were ignored in Shippuden (Sakura/Konoha 11) and so many inconsistencies occurred in Shippuden that everyone just says "forget I just want to see how it ends." I love Naruto, but the series is not getting any better and there is no way to really save it at this point. Everything up to Pain arc is good, after that its mediocre at best.

Of course this answer will get hate from huge Naruto fans. :(

OP is the true successor to Dbz, thus is better.

Totally different. I like Naruto a bit more... but what's really important:

HXH >>>> Naruto and OP >>>>>>>> Bleachshit

Like you said, it just come to taste.

I watched the anime and read the manga within 3 weeks and I have to say that manly tears were shed. OP anime pace is slow as hell which can be annoying when you try to catch up real with others.

Personally I love both mangas because they're different. One talk about ninjas while the other one about pirates.

Both anime has its pros and cons.
