U might be right this time. Kamui puts whatever part of the body that is phasing in a different dimension. When he does that he cant interact with whatever he is phasing through. Phasing and grabbing chakra at the same time would therefore be impossible. Therefore one could reason that Obito simply made his hand chakra and reached inside Madara. The same way Naruto did with Hinata.
