At the high school I go to, it sucks. It's either you like *** and drugs, or be a cast-off. Thankfully my boyfriend and I are on the same boat, and we can talk about Naruto with such excitement like a bunch of 7 year old girls talking about ponies.. lol. But in such a now closed off world, it's hard to cross the wanders and magnificence of fantasy/dreamland into this real world... Especially when the world we know today has lost a lot of its brilliance and courage for dreams.. Painstakingly the people having lost faith in such portrayal. :/ *sigh* And they sadly wouldn't be able to understand when people can make connections with characters that inspire them. It's a shame, really, because if most young minds now had creative minds rather than the minds intoxicated by bleak desire and delved into the enjoyment of imagination (Such as die hard Naruto fans....); we would probably get along better as a society- ....And worry only about fights driven by debates like fanboys and NaruHina/NaruSaku lololol....
Just remember, pity should be given to those who don't understand your simple pleasures.. They're simply missing out. ;9

this has been going on for so long. Star Wars fans started of as geeks and nerds in the 80s along with trekkies before them, you have potterheads and lord of the rings fans. twilight fans scare me. meh you like what you like who cares what others think. Comic book fans used to get it bad now movies based on them are huge on the big screen. I'm proud to be Narutard, let them hate. I'll still be happy at the end of the day and they will be angry still.

honestly all my university pals think i m a weirdo for still watchin naruto and they make fun of me...

but i don't give a damn to them.. i like what i like, and if they don't like it, hell with them...

they make a fuss about it when i lock myself every time new manga is released.. i watch it in total solitude and lash anyone who disturbs me

And honestly, i feel amazing freedom on NB cuz its a place where my ambitions are respected and my likes n dislikes accepted....

I don't normally bring up Naruto in a coversation...
My thing is, you don't have to tell people if you don't want to. It's not like it comes up in an everyday conversation.

Firstly... No, doing something you like does not make you a nerd. Some people like cars and go overboard with them, does that make them nerds? You like watching Anime, that does not make you a nerd.

Secondly... It is the year 2012 going on 2013, everyone is a nerd. It's more like if you are not a nerd then you're actually the "uncool" person. We are living in a technology era, if you don't know about CGI, smart phones, latest apps, computers etc. then you are seriously falling behind and that's what is uncool these days.

Luckily, I study Japanese, thus most people bear with weird fetishes like Narutardism. I have classmates who are equally obsessed with One Piece etc., so it isn't really a problem.

Some people do, some don't. That goes to comics/anime in general. Most of my friends like the sorta stuff, so we're good, but even then it's not a common topic. Nonetheless, whatever you like, keep likening it, even if others think differently.
