It's obvious Kishi is trying to amuse both fans. Naruto moves and abilities are barely being used. The fox can absorb I don't know how much senjutsu for Naruto and Naruto himself can active SM very quickly yet nope.

Its true somewhat. He had enough chakra to make a rasengan later, so why not use a clone to store up natural energy instead? He SAW that sasuke couldn't use Chidori, yet he still charged at him with the rasengan, would of been the perfect opportunity to try SM. Also, love how Naruto just used rasengan without a clone, shows that he grew up but also brings the issue of SM not being shown.
