Do you know how much it costs to maintain even a marginally functional network for a mmorpg? It's impossible unless you and your 36 friends plan on donating a little over a million dollars a piece.

It isn't. It's a troll thread or a pipe dream.
Again, creating a mmorpg is possible. It costs nothing to create 3D graphics, rig and animate them, grab a free game engine and write code. It takes nothing more than time (an extremely long time). But, you will never be able to offer it for free unless you have serious donations.
It's also next to impossible to keep a volunteer team together for the amount of time required to make a good game.
