Now throughout the fight I've noticed something. Whenever we see panels of the statues being worn down by the ensuing battle, we only get shots of Hashirama's statue crumbling. As we all know Hashirama represents Naruto/Ashura while Madara represents Sasuke/Indra. Reread all the fight chapters and you can even see we only get focused shots of Hashirama's statue breaking down as opposed to panels for both.
I know they're both crumbled, but the fact that only Hashirama's has been focused on with its own panels is probably foreshadowing either Naruto's death or signifying that he will undergo a significant change after the fight.
Now if he does die, I don't agree that it's well written or a good move on Kishi's part, because that would make Naruto somewhat of a tragedy, which is the exact opposite of what this series's was set out to do in my opinion.
Also note: There is absolutely no proof that The Last is canon to the manga, so don't try to use that movie as an excuse for every character's survival.
