Naruto manga - when was the first time you started reading it and why?

I started watching Naruto(anime) 1 year ago and finish it in 1 month.
EDIT: After that, I continued to read the manga when Naruto goes to the battlefield and finally caught up at the chapter 599 when Obito's face revealed.

I think everyone has the same story, but I started reading the manga around the time Asuma died in the Anime. And since I started reading the manga, I haven't gone back.

i started watching anime after watching blood prison movie . .anime made me curious as to whats gonna happen in the war and strength of SA. .my friend suggested me to read manga . .first chapter i ever read was 559(reinforcements arrive) and ofcourse my friend had told me all the back storiesxd

I started watchin Naruto at last christmas vacation. After I watched every single anime episode(yes during that time I didn't know that some of them were fillers.) And then I somehow founded a manga panda and started to read it at the Gaara vs fourth kazekage chapter.

And then I red the manga itself at the start, watched movies, OVAs.

I remember taking glimpses earlier on but I didn't get on the manga heavy until sometime during the war arc when the anime kept shoving filler in my face and I just got impatient.

I started reading the Manga when a friend spoiled me with the Kyuubi Chakra Mode, I was reluctant at first since I liked the anime better.
I gave it a try a week later and since then I've been a manga-only person, not just Naruto but Bleach, Fairy Tail, TGoH, the Breaker NW.... all of them=D

at first i always watched naruto randomly in TV, but then i saw my brother watching it so i wanted to try it.

i started watching naruto from episode 1 all the way to last shippuden episode. i also learned and read the manga after reading the wiki.

so basically i obtained knowledge of naruto by reading the wiki then later i knew what manga meant so i started reading it from chapter 434 or 435. i think this was around 2011.

I reached episode 275 then wanted to know what will happen so i started reading the the manga hiwever whenever an episode comes i watch since i always prefer the anome even if it's filler

I started reading Naruto manga when i was watching Shippuden episode 72 wheere Kakuzu and hidan were introduced.

i got bored of the fillers before that(Sora-the pseudo jinchuuriki) and my friend gave me bunch of episodes which was up to episode 72 in shippuden. i asked him the rest of the episodes(73-war arc) which he forgot ot bring and i waited for some days but was not able to control my excitement and thus went to reading manga and thats when i realized that the Sora stuff and many fillers in Naruto-1 and Shippuden were fillers!
