I have always think that all what humans does is a reflex of what they live/think/see (in a word, context). So Kishimoto's work it's not an exception, and I'd like to state in this thread the meaning behind dojutsus:
Humans have evolved relying in their sight a lot, proven when it was discovered that humans use a fair part of brain cortex to analyze info from eyes.
Then, it's only natural that the major power (or it seems) in Naruto manga has something to do with eyes.
But dojutsus not only show us how important is sigh for us, but it also tell us what things we desire from it: E.g. insight.
