What the **** is wrong with everyone, why so much hate on flashbacks? Tbh I prefer flashbacks over fights, flashbacks give the characters a deeper story and you get to know them better, it's really interesting. Why does everyone only want action ? Please explain this to me.

It's plain and simple: Naruto's main audience composes of children age 5-10. Haven't you noticed already?

We want the plot to move forward, and the issue isn't that the flashback happened its that it took the entire chapter. Dai's flashback could have been five pages and be just as effective. This is just to drag the manga out. Besides did we really need to know about what Gai's childhood was like? This should have been anime filler material, instead it takes up valuable pages. I don't even really care about Gai's attack becasue we all know it will fail. Im interested in the titular character of the manga, oh and the ******* with the bad haircut.

This chapter is an easy 5/5.
You people are hard to please, or just don't know what you want. When the story doesn't go like we predicted or lacks "advancement" we all cry. If the story went as fast as we/you wanted it would probably be over already. It's like you want everything in one chapter. Plus Gai's death is on the horizon so it's only suitting he gets "coming of age" flashback/chapter.

Had:
-8th Gate Action, that even Madara seems timid of
-A new, touching, and fitting flashback; which introduced Gai's dad

Lacked:
-Kage and Swirl zetsu scene, haven't been there in awhile
-Bee, safe to assume he's dead? Unless some of the 8 and 9 tails chakra is a lifeline.
-More Madara perspective, I'd like him to elaborate how he knows of the

I admit that their were a few things that pretty interesting, such as seeing Gai's father and seeing Gai unleash the eighth gate, but other than that, it was really boring.

If Kishi had no flashbacks, this story would have been complete years ago, but it would never have drawn me in as effectively as it has. I enjoyed seeing how Gai learned his ninja way and seeing his father's willingness to offer the eighth gate as a last-ditch effort to save the younger shinobi. It's not whether Gai can damage Madara, but whether he can buy some time and protect his comrades. 4 of 5 and can't wait for next week.

On the bright side, one can presume that because Gai didn't do any actual fighting in this chapter, the entirety of next chapter will be him whuppin ass.

Everyone should know by now that it is a law in the Naruto universe that before a character dies, they get a flashback. It wasn't that bad. I think Guy has deserved it. I like how we got Morning Peacock, Afternoon Tiger, and now Evening Elephant

SO this is what I concluded from reading Naruto Manga 668:

Gai's dad Dai charged in to rescue Gai's 3-man squad from the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist. In order to protect the ones he loved, Dai opens up all eight gates and becomes the Red Beast. My theory is that Dai could be the one who killed 6 of 7 Swordsmen (leaving out the Thunder-Blade owner, Raiga, who appears in the original Naruto Series). That's about it, Dai killed 6 Swordsmen and as a result of the 8th Gate, he dies.

What do you guys think of this?

I liked the flashback it's nice to know some backstories but I'm still pissed because its been two chapters since they mentioned Guy using the 8th gate. Its been dragged on for too long
