i was wondering the same thing! Orochimaru must have been really bad at controlling him when he used the 1st and 2nd hokage against the 3rd!

And i agree as well how did the first defeat an enemy with ems rinnengan and the nine tails at full power he had to be amazing and i now know why kishi didn't put him in this war or the other hokage for that matter

Hold up here is my theory!:
So Madara must have awakened the Rennigan when he mastered the EMS. He gave it to Nagato because He was a Uzimaki Which is pure Guinness. Only A uchiha, Senju, And Uzimaki can get the rennigan(Because of Senju blood.) So madara knew he was going to be brought back to life. He knew everything was ganna happen he knew their would be another hokage that would surpass the 1st.(4th hokage). So he gave the Rennigan to Nagato to bring him back to life. And you know who this all connect to? thats right all this connects to Naruto.(Child of the Prophecy). Thats the Reason why he knows Nagato. But guess what something went wrong, he was thinking ''okay im brought back to life but something is wrong, Something is up'' ''Their must be an error''. So because Naruto Changed Nagato ways which made Nagato bring eveyone back to life. Madara entrusted Nagato with everything because he was one of the last remaining Uzimaki's. But naruto Was a jinjurikii. Madara was to strict he coudn't trust Naruto and have him master the Rennigan and mabey achieving the ten tails. So he came up with Nagato bringing him back to life, Thats why he knows him. But someone interfiers with his plan and you know it. it was tobi. Tobi is trying to use madara for his plan, Madara wanted to use the moon eye plan, Tobi is after the Ten tails. Tobi stole madaras identity and then claimed he was madara. So before Tobi lost his prime he must have killed madara. So who is stronger then Madara? SO that leaves me with the conclusion that Tobi is the sage of sixth paths.

Well this shows us why the Rinnegan is so rare, since hardly anyone would have reached this level, even Izuna would not have.

I wonder if the Rinnegan is only obtainable in the way in which Madara gained it. If so, then Nagato may have actually been given Madara's eyes after all since we know that he is an Uzumaki and not an Uchiha.

Interesting theory. I do agree with the idea that Madara gave Nagato the Rinnegan as he said that many times, but the rest is all unconfirmed and baseless.

If Uchiha can awaken the Rinnegan than a Senju should be able to awaken the other power the sage of the six paths had and his younger son had. Maybe Uchiha powers/dna and Senju powers/dna together can awaken both of the powers the sage had.

Like most of us, I'm pretty sure myself that "tobi" is Izuna, Madara took his eyes for himself which then rendered Izuna pretty much useless on the battlefield and he wasn't able to achieve the rinnegan. Pretty much makes sense why "tobi" has the rinnegan AND sharingan.

I skipped a bunch of pages on the thread so someone may have already said this but Madara is bringing down the moon and the moon has the ten tails body sealed inside so maybe this is the part where the ten tales returns? also i do not think tobi is madara anymore and i have no clue who it could be. i do not know how i feel about sharingan to rinnegan and i dont know how it would be if sasuke got it but Kishi has a reason for everything so we will see.

No he is using the moon for the moon eye plan it take a while for him to take the ten tail though someone could instinly strike him.
