A shortened version of the theory i lost after writing it for an hour was that Madara is both of them...

Tobi is madara's memories in Obito's body, he would lose his own techniques as his original body was probably dying (old age?) but he would have Obito's technique Space Time Jutsu and the implanted DNA sample, from Madaras fight with Hashirama at the VotE, this would give him the ability to use Izanagi freely and ultimately Banbutsu Sozo, once he had his rinnegan and his plan was complete.

He made a plan long ago to unite his soon to be dead body ie edo tensei'd madara and EMS, with his new Tobi body, so that he could use EMS, Izanagi, Space Time Jutsu, Banbutsu Sozo and control the Jubi once it had been gathered. Essentially the sage of the six paths reborn plus his own EMS.

However he was meant to be reborn with gedo rinne tensei, but Nagato uses it on the people of Konoha instead, thats why he talks about Nagato as it was part of his plan, Tobi's original plan to revive his body with Nagato failed, but he adapted when the snake (Kabuto) shows up, it fits in as he can revive his old body through impure world resurrection, so he agrees to an alliance with Kabuto. Sasuke was a sacrifice he was willing to make to gain ultimate power.

Obito doesn't have space time jutsu as he dies... but Kakashi who gets Obitos eyes uses a space time jutsu called Kamui, this is very similar to tobi's space time jutsu both transports things to a different dimension ie Tobis body or deidara's arm.

Nagato doesnt use edo tensei, he uses gedo rinne tesei to bring back Kakashi and others killed in the attack on the leaf village, but it is implied that Madara was to be reborn with gedo rinne tensei at the start of this chapter when madara talks about nagato, and Tobi says it some other time that cant really remember when lol some time after the attack on the leaf lol.

Putting the SOSP behind the masked guy kind of explains it all... If I can recall correctly, it was said that the 'shinobi' originated with the SOSP, so maybe he came back to destroy it with all the anger and pain it brought to the world... hahaha.. just thought..

Tobi is not Izuna. As far as I know, Izuna is DEAD! Naruto Wikia
His body is in the coffin and he is dead, both of his eyes gone.

So Madara knew Nagato. How exactly is a little unclear. However, from his dialogue I believe he expected to be brought back to life through Nagato's technique. He seemed awfully surprised and almost displeased that he was brought back via Edo.

To have obito's body makes sense, i remember Tobi saying he was too injured from the "fight with the 1st" but in actuality he was injured from the boulders. But How was obito's body recovered and Madara's memories placed inside?

Obito's body may have recovered by Zetsu. Madara's memories was placed inside the edo Madara by the "Gedo Rinne Tensei" technique/jutsu.

guys it cant be obito are you serious? 1. he got crushed by a bolder and kakashi took his one eye. if it was tobi than why did he have 2 sharingans? 2. obito is kakshi's age, and tobi is a old man he's all wrinkly and shit like a raisen..its not obito.
