Does your bro and friend know the difference between manga to comic and anime to cartoon?
Many of my friends also said that Naruto is for kids. "Why should you spend your money buying "Naruto comics" when you can read it online?" one of my friends said. I think the, maybe this is a reason, that many people don't know the difference.

If it were a move, it'd be rated R, which is all the more reason this place being labelled a family site is stupid.

But Japan is weird as hell xd
You must be registered for see images

Exactly lol, they have different standards than us. People in Japan would probably find that picture normal. Different values between each culture I guess Lol

I'd say the manga/anime is universal. There are things that both enjoyable to kids as well as adults in the manga.

Kids:

A good storyline.
Fun characters.
Epic battle scenes.
Naruto world (not meaning to sound corney).

However.... Kishi has encorporated certain things that only adults might pick up on:

Adults:

The introduction of Chakra: Those who know about the Seven Chakras will understand what i am saying.
Taoism: Many of the themes in the story are based on Taoist philosophies.
Buddhism: again the Seven Chakras.
Yin/Yang: Integral to the story but the ideas behind it are very philosophical. Those who have trained in Shaolin Buddhist (Monk) Martial Arts as well as its many variations will understand the metaphors behind it.

Well... i know what i am saying might seem a bit vague but i think you get the gist of what i'm trying to say.

It's for both.

I'm a grown man, but i love talking about Naruto with my nephew. Especially when we argue and he tries to say that Naruto is the best character, whereas i shut him down and say the best are Itachi and Madara heh hehehe

@Naruto b is absolutely right , kids outside Japan can't handle Naruto , remember that itachi fan who killed himself ? Remember that Gara fan who buried himself ? Exactly ......In Japan it is by their standards , outside of it is not .

It can be for both. I mean sometimes the storyline is complex, that kids might not even understand.

WAIT WhAT? Why did that gaara fan do that?!?!?!?!?? Where were these people from?
They were playing and they wanted to imitate Sand Burial... something that doesn't make sense as that attacks kills in Naruto too
