Hello Base!!!
First, I want to state that this is a personal opinion and that I do agree that it can cause some "distortion" on the story and other troubles, and I'll be speaking of these too.
This is my opinion :
Well, it's safe to assume that one episode, completely rid of fillers, have, in average, 3.5(2 to 5) chapters.
And we know too that an episode has 20 minutes duration. We now have plenty of movies who surpassed 120 minutes.
So lets put, that EACH Naruto's movies has in average 150 minutes, or 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Lets do some basic math :
150/20 = 7.5 "episodes". 7.5 * 3.5 = 26.25 manga chapters per movie.
Now lets talk about the possibilities of arcs:
With shippuden, I won't be doing the same, because it is a mess of fillers, half-fillers to form an argument, but the same can be done with patience. "Oh, but Shippuden has many more episodes then the original. It would span more then 10 movies alone". But Shippuden has a LOT more fillers too, so even though I agree that shippuden has much more plot, I think they could be compressed into 5 or 6 movies.
The Cons :
TL
R - Naruto's movies FTW!!!

Now lets talk about the possibilities of arcs:
- In the anime, Zabuza's arc was 19 episodes long(with the initial episodes).
- The Chunin - Konoha's Attack arc spanned from chapter 20 to 80. First Akatsuki attack from Tsunade's becoming the 5th Hokage spaned from 81 to 99.
- Finally Sasuke's retrieval arc spanned from 107 to to 135.

The Cons :
- Lenght - 6 + 3 = NINE movies. But is it a real deal? With Harry Potter franchise spanning 7 movies(I think), Lord of the Rings with 5 so far, coming to a 6th movie, we can safely say that linked movies are no longer a problem. But it's also safe to say that this would be a hard thing to do.
- Adaptation - I share the same concern that they could mess Naruto's plot completely, but I'm willing to take the risk.
- Audience - This would be logically target to children, but as many naruto's fans are now teenagers or even adults, they could make a PG-13 or PG movie. Also, it can be said that only otakus would watch these movies, but the idea it's completely wrong. I grew up with people who always made fun of comic books, animes, mangas, video games etc and now are The Avenger's movie number one fan.
Also, we could "compare" the Harry Potter explosion with Naruto. The Harry Potter's franchise was less known before the movies than Naruto, so if they can make a real nice Naruto movie chain, this could become a huge financial success.
