Chapter Five Part Five: Two New, Powerful Ninja Enter the Stage!

As the sun rises in the east, the still stadium begins to fill with various people of every country. Whether they are fans, spectators, ninja, or regular people, they all gather in the large arena to watch the spectacle that is the Chuunin Exams. As the Clouds stadium fills, the Five Kage take their seats at their special placement to announce the days events. Even though the Tsuchikage is known for his bland personality, he seemed excited for today’s fights. A large group of shinobi took their seating in the shinobi designated area. An ecstatic Naruto was in the center, bragging about his disciples. Once a majority of the spectators have seated, and the appropriate time came, the raikage stood up and announced the day’s events.

Ay (In a booming voice): We shall start the quarter finals of this year’s Final Exams. There will be a total of six battles, the first between the Leafs Patsuta Tatsumaka versus the Sands Shirogane. Like before these battles will be until submission or until battle ending injury. The fight will begin promptly at ten o’clock. We haven’t even scratched the surface of exciting battles!

The crowd cheered in response. Ay sat down again as the two contestants entered the battlefield. Shirogane was relatively skinny, decent height, with short brown hair. His facial expression was bland, showing no interest in this fight. Patsuta was quite the opposite, waving to the crowd as he walked. Patsuta beamed as the two approached each other, showing his sportsmanship as a contestant. Darui appeared next to them in a small flash of lightning, displaying his Lightning Stlye: Body Flicker skills. Darui repeated the rules, while the two genin shake hands. The clock ticked to ten, and the two jumped back, kunai in hand, preparing for an oncoming attack. Patsuta wove a few handsigns, creating two water clones. He and his clones launched a frontal attack, throwing numerous shuriken as they ran towards the sand ninja. Blocking each shuriken with his, the sand ninja proceeded forward, sprinting at Patsuta with a kunai. As soon as they were close to each other, the ninja threw the kunai at the ground in front of Patsuta, raising a single hand sign.

Patsuta (noticing the paper bomb attached to the kunai): Shit!

Song:

As the paper bomb explodes, the Sand Ninja retreats, expecting the battle to continue. Patsuta appears running straight towards him, with his water clone directly opposite. The two throw kunai at Shirogane, expecting a hit. Shirogane jumps into the air, dodging both advancing kunai. Patsuta also jumps, dodging his clone’s kunai. The clone disperses into water, leaving only Patsuta left for attack.

Patsuta (making hand signs): Water Style: Water Bullets!

From Patsuta’s mouth shoots numerous amounts of water. Shirogane whips his kunai back and forth, breaking up a majority of the water bullets. However, even in the midst of the defense, one water bullet manages to penetrate, blowing Shinogane back tremendously. Patsuta makes his way towards Shinogane, making more handsigns.

Patsuta(Tora-U-Inu-Hitsuji-Tatsu*): Wind Style: Wind Cutter Jutsu!

The wind rushes towards the fallen shinobi, striking him with such ferocity that it left multiple cuts and gashes to his body, tearing his clothes. Shirogane took each attack, his expressionless face remaining the same throughout the strikes. Shirogane seems to have a strange aura around him, one of a purplish hue. He reaches for his ninja weapons, touching them once with the purple hue. Shirogane dodges Patsuta’s fourth Wind Cutter, and sprints towards him. Patsuta copies Shirogane, taking out a kunai of his own. The two engage in a raging fight of kunai, dodging and slashing at every chance they got. Patsuta seemed to gain the upper hand, as his kunai skills were quite good. Patsuta managed to get close enough to slash at Shiroganes legs, trying to immobilize him. The kunai stops near the purplish hue as Shirogane jumps over Patsuta, touching his back. Shirogane retreats Lee style, and whips out the remainder of his weapons. As Shirogane starts to take his kunai out, Gaara recognizes the purplish hue.

Gaara (mumbling): Th-that’s the Magnet Release kekkai genkai.

Kankuro (looking over as Gaara mumbled): What did you say? Did you say Magnet Release?

Gaara (astonished, speaking loudly): That’s the kekkai genkai of one of my predessesors: The Third Kazekage, the Magnet Release.

Naruto (dumbfounded): What’s the Magnet Release?

Gaara: Magnet Release is an advanced nature kekkei genkai that allows the user to convert chakra into magnetic forces and magnetise an object. It also allows the user to essentially control anything magnetic just by willing the chakra they've infused in magnetic objects. Those are only the basics. The Third Kazekage was able to control Iron Sand as well as manipulate the metals within the ground. My father was able to manipulate Gold Dust in the very same manner.

Naruto: What does that mean for Patsuta?

Gaara: Either he won’t last much longer, or he needs to be able to defend himself against something he’s never seen. The latter is almost impossible.

Naruto: Damn. *This isn’t good. Patsuta needs to use that brain to his advantage.* Come on Patsuta! You can do it!

Song:

As Naruto learns of this kekkai genkai (one he has fought before), Shirogane finishes his preperations. Thirteen shuriken and eight kunai are floating in midair, surrounding Shirogane. He thrusts his hands forward, commanding the sharp weapons towards Patsuta. (Bad Situation link here) His face sweating, Patsuta sprints away from the oncoming attack, noticing the speed of the weapons. Patsuta weaves numerous hand signs, calling upon more water clones to control the situation. The water clones throw multiple kunai and shuriken, trying to stop the oncoming attack. The magnetized kunai stop from the initial blow of Patsuta’s defense, but proceed accordingly, adding the defensive kunai to their ranks. Patsuta, sweat almost pouring down his face, created five water clones, all surrounding him. They rushed to the nearby forested area, trying to escape the attack. The kunai defeated the first two clones, which were protecting the original from the back. The remaining four Patsuta’s dive behind a tree, while all 21 weapons lodge into the trunk, edging their way through, the power of the Magnet Release forcing them through. Patsuta sits down, catching his breath, thinking about what just happened.

Patsuta (panting): *What is going on! Even though he lost sight of me, the weapons kept going. I wish I knew what this was, but I wasn’t expecting him to do something like this.

The kunai and shuriken continued edging through the tree, splitting it almost in half. Patsuta emerges from the trees, sending his water clones in all different directions, trying to get the attack off of him. The kunai and shuriken dislodge from the trunk and pursue Patsuta.

Patsuta (jumping from tree to tree): Damn, they’re getting closer!

The attack finally catches up to Patsuta lodging into his back.

Patsuta (in pain): Urgh!

Shirogane smiles satisfactoringly, his first facial expression of the match. From a distance, Shirogane notices that
Patsuta’s body is no longer there. All that is left is a set of ninja chainmail armor with the entirety of Shirobane’s attack attached to it.

Shirogane: What?! Where is he?

Song:

Patsuta appears next to Shirogane, chest enlarged as if to launch a jutsu, his opened shirt showing his bare chest after the removal of the chainmail.

Flashback

Patsuta: *Was it something I touched during our fight? Is it that purple aura?

Patsuta (having an epiphany): That’s it! He touched my chainmail when we were fighting hand to hand combat! That’s the only part of my body that can be magnetized.

Patsuta takes off his clothing behind the tree, out of view of the crowd. He places his chainmail on one of his water clones, hoping that it would direct the kunai towards it.

End of Flashback

Patsuta (releasing his jutsu): *Wind Style: Powerful WaterGun!*

The powerful water/wind jutsu connects with Shirogane, sending him flying backwards. One of Patsuta’s water clones appear behind Shirogane, releasing a flurry of Water Bullets, pushing him back the other way. Another of the clones appears above the sand genin, and punches him into the ground. Shirogane lays motionless in the small dent of the sand ground; he has been knocked out.

Darui (appearing): This match goes to Patsuta Tatsumaka of the Hidden Leaf!

Song:

The crowd roars, cheering for Patsuta. He walks off the battlefield, while the medical ninja take Shirogane to the nearest medical area. Naruto and crew look extremely surprised at the sudden come back, thinking he was finished. Even though the crew was surprised, nothing could beat Gaara’s new fascination with the Magnet Release genin. The same expressionless face he had at that age, the amount of flowing power once beaten or angered, it was almost sickening in how similar it was to his own early life. Gaara never had a serious student-teacher relationship, even with Baki, his jounin. He loathed for someone to teach, someone to understand his teachings with a single word. His friends and family have been taking on students, so why not his own? He shifted himself, uncapping his gourd of sand, sending some of the granules into the blue sky. The chakra infused sand made its way to the hospital, where Shirogane was being held. As Gaara’s sand reached its destination, two more genin entered the stage.

Song:

A spikey, black haired leaf genin approached a brown haired, Rock genin: Maguma of the Rock, and Fukutsu of the Leaf. They shook hands, Darui disappearing while doing so. The two jumped back, staring at eachother before battling. Fukutsu, although a bit tense, seemed relaxed going into the quarter final battle. The two rushed at each other, hands already raised, weaving numerous hand signs.

Maguma: Lava Style: Quicklime Splatter!

Grayish, acidic liquid spewed from Maguma’s mouth, heading at high speeds towards the running Fukutsu. Fukutsu finishes his hand signs, creating an earthen wall to block the oncoming attack. The quicklime attack starts to melt the earth wall, its acid corroding the very ground. Fukutsu places paper bombs over his side of the wall, retreating after doing so. Maguma jumped over the corroding wall, preparing her inflated chest for another attack. Fukutsu uses the single handed tiger sign to initiate the explosives, shrapnel in mud form flying everywhere, striking Maguma during her attack. She vanishes quickly, showing up in front of Fukutsu.

Song:

Maguma delivers a swirling kick to Fukutsu’s leg, knocking him over. She pounces on him, kunai in hand. Fukutsu brings up his fist, uppercutting her in the jaw, sending her into the air. The quickly weave more hand signs, Fukutsu using his Flow Wave, while she spews another Quicklime attack. Knowing how dangerous the volcaninc substance is, Fukutsu directs his wave around the flying substance. During the attack, Fukutsu launches numerous amounts of paper bombs to the ground, which disappear into the earth on contact. Fukutsu dodges the quicklime, throwing kunai at the falling Rock shinobi. Maguma deflects the kunai attack with her own, progressing towards Fukutsu. She launches another attack of quicklime; surrounding them with a diameter 100 ft. Fukutsu threw a kunai from his earthen perch into the quicklime, watching it as the acid melted the knife completely.

Fukutsu (contemplating): *This is…troubling. It doesn’t seem I’ll be able to move much more without the Earth Style. I can’t expel chakra like that; I would lost the match from pure exhaustion.*

Maguma (smirking): I see you are enjoying my Lava Style Jutsu! Isn’t it fantastic?

Fukutsu (keeping a straight face): It’s bothersome, to say the least. I could just stay here though, the acid melts anything.

Maguma: I wouldn’t be too sure.

Maguma (weaving hand signs): Water Style: Water Trumpet!

Fukutsu (astounded): *Water Style too! Who is this girl?*

As the water sprayed over the liquid acid, the quicklime took a new form: cement. The entire field has now become a cement park of pure gray, Fukutsu’s mound of earth being the only non-cement object within the circle. Noticing the phase change, Fukutsu throws another kunai at the gray solid, making sure of its acidicy. To Fukutsu’s surprise, the kunai bounced off of the cement. He has never seen this kind of chemical change before, noting it as safe. He jumps down from his Earth Style perch, charging again at Maguma. The two go at it in an all out taijutsu contest, besting each other every so often. Maguma takes the initiative, launching various fire and lava jutsu at the defenseless Fukutsu. His inability to cast Earth jutsu with the cement is troubling him; almost forcing him to use his back-up. Fukutsu is forced to retreat behind his still standing earthen mound, his only safe placement. Noticing the one part that hasn’t cemented over, Fukutsu weaves more handsigns, hoping for a faster win.

Fukutsu: Earth Style: Earth Disruption! (see authors note)

Fukutsu places his hand on the mound, disrupting the entire earth below the cement. The earthquake cracks the hardened quicklime, breaking it in certain places. Maguma appears on the top of the mound, smiling once again. She casts a jutsu, firmly slapping both hands to the ground.

Maguma: Lava Style: Quicklime Walls!

Three walls of the cement surround Fukutsu, instantly trapping him. Maguma's knowledge in Earth Style has lead her to having the ability to control cement.

Maguma: So, do you submit? You have been trapped.

Fukutsu (with a familiar half smile): I don’t think so.

Song:

Fukutsu weaves a single tiger sign, setting of a slur of the buried paper bombs. The cement beneath him breaks; dropping Fukutsu a couple feet below the surface of the quicklime. The remaining paper bombs completely crack the cement, breaking it completely. Fukutsu uses his Earth Disruption once again, clearing the cement and forcing Maguma to defend herself from the flying concrete. Fukutsu erects walls of mud around himself, a standard defense against the collateral damage. The cement rains from the sky, littering the arena with chunks and boulders of various sizes. Fukutsu and Maguma take stances on two boulders of cement, glaring at each other, craving a win. The two look as if they had fought a war. Bruises, cuts, and exhaustion are all completely visible in the two young ninja. The crow is quiet as the anticipation of the final run of the battle begins. Fukutsu and Maguma jump from boulder to boulder, kunai drawn, attacking each other as they cross paths. The exhaustion is taking the best of them, their movements slowing to an almost slug-like pace.

Fukutsu (panting): Are you done yet? Your chakra level should be hitting zero by now.

Maguma (panting and smirking): You should be worried more about yourself. I don’t see you going at a faster speed than me.

Fukutsu (smiling back): *Hmm, I don’t think I’ll have enough chakra to ignite the rest of my paper bombs. There should be a good ten left. I need to get her on the ground to finish this though. Not to mention, I don’t know where they are located, I could very well blow myself up.*

Song:

Fukutsu jumps towards Maguma, shuriken distributed amongst his fingers. He launches the attack, hoping for Maguma to land on the ground. She notices the attack, hiding behind one of the boulders for defense. Fukutsu takes this chance to land on the ground himself, using his Earth jutsu to sense the paper bombs, expelling half of his remaining chakra, which forces him to only ignite five. During his sensing, he notices the paper bomb placed adjacent to Maguma, while the remaining four surround him. The only precaution he can take it to sit atop the boulder int the center of the paper bombs. He leaps onto the cement, using the hand seal to ignite five of the remaining ten paper bombs. The explosions happen one after the other, Fukutsu noticing that none have been the surrounding five. The paper bomb next to Maguma ignites, blowing her thirty feet away, slamming another boulder, breaking numerous bones. Three of the paper bombs ignite around Fukutsu, everything going blank. The expolosions cause an enormous amount of smoke and cement take up airspace, making the crowd eager for more. Fukutsu is sent into the air, his conscious breaking as he flies.

Fukutsu: *Damn… I really thought I could get lucky that time. My minds going blank, blackening out as I fly through this air… I must get up when I land, so I can face Patsuta in the semi-final.*

…

Fukutsu (opening his eyes): Hm, what-what happened? Am I still on the battlefield?

Fukutsu looks to his right, noticing Maguma’s body on the ground. She is breathing ever so faintly, being barely alive after the explosions. Her brown hair is caked with broken cement and singed at the tips. Fukutsu manages to regain enough strength to roll over and pushes halfway from the ground, forcing himself to stand. Darui meets his push with his own arms, lifting Fukutsu into a standing position, slinging his arm around his shoulder as medical ninja grab Maguma. Fukutsu smiles as they walk off of the field, where his teammates, Naruto and other medical ninja are waiting for him.

Fukutsu: *Naruto-Sensei seems to be yelling about something, I wonder what it is? My ears are still ringing from the explosions. I hope Patsuta is shaking from my performance, because he’s next.*

Next part: Chapter Five Part Six: The Star Power vs. A Normal Ninja and Rematch: Dyno vs. The Mysterious Mist Shinobi!

*Author's note: Those are supposed to be read as hand signs, it adds effect.

QOTD: Should they add an Add MP3 as a link of youtube videos to the site?

Thank you to those that have commented. This took awhile to write, as I was having writers block with this chapter and other conflicting problems. In my opinion, it was lacking. I thought it needed more dialogue, as well as better described action scenes. What about the QOTD? Any answers?

Nice, as usual. One thing I noticed;

"between the Leafs Patsuta Tatsumaka versus the Sands Shirogane"

I would personally replace versus with 'and'. Having the between and the versus in the same sentence as you used them is improper. Other than that, if there were any grammatical mistakes I missed them.

Only other thing I could say is that it still kind of feels like you're just relaying events as they happen in your description. There's not a lot of the fire, not a lot of passion in the events. It's better than it was, but I wanna feel the shruiken fly, have my ears rattled by the clang of the steel, wince as the lava melts, and so on. You're almost there; I understand what's happening. Now make me feeeel it.

Good job dude.
