Chapter Five Part One: The Final Exam!

The arena is filled with spectators, all patiently waiting for the tournament to begin. The five major Kage are taking their seats on a platform at the top of the arena. The remaining leaders are seated in a closed off area for leaders and Naruto. The five Kage and Naruto will join them after the ceremony. The genin that have participated have a section and talk to each other about the remaining fights that are going to occur. Naruto walks up to the Kage platform and takes his spot next to Gaara and Tsunade.
Naruto: Hey Granny Tsunade, Gaara; what’s goin’ on?
Tsunade (in an annoyed tone): Naruto, can you stop calling me Granny?
Naruto (snickering): You’re older than when I started it, now it’s correct to call you a Granny.
Tsunade: Narutooo!
Tsunade leaves her seat about to punch Naruto into the wall.
Naruto (apologizing): Calm down, calm down. You know I could dodge you if I wanted.
Tsunade (sitting back down): Hmph.
Gaara: Why do you start this kind of stuff Naruto?
Naruto (sitting down): I don’t know, I guess it reminds me of the old times a little, when I was just a genin, trying to gain everyone’s respect.
Gaara: *Thinking* Regardless of his title as the Hero of This World, he is still down to earth. He’s matured a lot since the war.
A man in the Tsuchikage garb walks over to Naruto. He stands in front of Naruto and holds his hand out.
Tsuchikage: I am the new Tsuchikage, Kitsuchi. Onoki was my father. He has unfortunately passed away since the last meeting.
Naruto: It’s a pleasure to meet you Lord Kitsuchi. I’m and sorry to hear that. Your father was a great man and a great Kage. I hope we can work well together in the future.
Kitsuchi: As do I.
Kitsuchi returns to his seat next to Mei. Mei waves to Naruto and they both greet each other.
Mei: Naruto, how are you?
Naruto: Great! It looks like you’re doing well.
Mei: Thanks.
Naruto: I noticed there was a Swordsmen in the survival exams.
Mei: Yes. We started the Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist again, but without the “blood” exams.
Naruto: So what do you do?
Mei: Chojuro runs an academy that takes the most talented ninja from the each graduation and trains them with a certain sword. The only sword we can’t use so far is the Samehada, but you already know that.
Naruto: That’s a fantastic idea. Unfortunately, for the academy, Samehada won’t leave Bee’s side.
Mei (laughing): Unfortunately. It was nice talking to you Naruto.
Naruto: You to Lady Mei.
Mei walks away, with her face blushing. She tends to get overexcited when a man gives her a compliment like “Lady.”
Darui and the contestants are standing in the middle of the arena, lined up for presentation. Darui begins to introduce each one of them, while the crowd cheers for each contestant. The contestant is projected on the screen so everyone can see. After the introductions, the Kage and Naruto appear on the screen.
Kitsuchi: I’m Kitsuchi, the new Tsuchikage. This looks like it's going to be a great tournament.
Gaara: Good luck to all contestants.
Mei: Welcome all to another fantastic Chuunin Exams!
A: Show me what you brats can do!
Tsunade: Good luck.
Naruto: Good luck to everyone taking the Chunnin Exams! I am eager to watch every battle.
Crowd: We love you Narutoooo!
Naruto smiles and the screen switches back to Darui. He proceeds to give more information on the exam. Naruto and the Kage get up and move to the leader’s section for conversation and gambling. Naruto decides to spend some time learning about other villages and their leaders before leaving to sit with Hinata and the rest. Naruto sits next to a man wearing white robes and a purple kage hat. He notices a familiar face he just can’t name.
Man (nonchalantly: How are you?
Naruto (still trying to discover who the man is): Pretty good. Do I know you from somewhere?
The man looks over. He has long black hair and light brown eyes. The astonished face gives Naruto a hint about his identity.
Man: N-N-Naruto?!?
Naruto: Hmmmm. So you do know me…
Man: Of course I do! I’m Sumaru from the Hidden Star Village.
Naruto: Sumaru! It’s been awhile! How’ve you been? What’s with the get up?
The two friends beam at each other.
Sumaru: I’ve been promoted to Hoshikage. Since then I’ve been great. It seems you’re not the Hokage yet… Does this mean I’ve won?
Naruto: Good for you! Funny story about that, I was supposed to be Hokage, but I turned it down so I could train my own team.
Sumaru: I thought you’d be more eager to take the position.
Naruto: I was when I was younger, but then I realized I wasn’t cut out for the job just yet. So, I watched one of your genin fight a Hyuga. They used the Kujaku method, I thought that was dangerous?
Sumaru (kind of nervous): I heard. When I became Hoshikage, I studied the star power for ways to make it safer. I hit a breakthrough, and now anyone at the village is able to use it. *Thinking* It’s still a prototype, but hopefully Naruto doesn’t ask about it.
Naruto: That means you are closer to being recognized as a major village. You won’t pass up the Hidden Leaf though.
Sumaru (sarcastically): I don’t know, the Hidden Leaf is pretty weak.
The two laugh as though they have been friends for a while. They talk about what they have been doing since they last saw each other. Sumaru asks Naruto a lot of questions on the fight with the Akatsuki and the Fourth Shinobi World War. After the conversation, Naruto gets up from his seat next to Sumaru and looks at him.
Naruto: It’s great to see you Sumaru, but I’m going to watch the start of the tournament with a couple friends and my girlfriend. I’ll come back up if a Leaf and Star go at it, it’ll remind me of the old times.
Sumaru (laughing): Sounds good Naruto.
Naruto leaves and takes the stairs to the other seating arrangements where a majority of his remaining friends, and Hinata, are seated. Gaara sees him leave, and heads towards the group as well. Kankuro is the first to notice the two.
Kankuro: It’s great you could finally show up, Naruto and Lord Kazekage (in a very sarcastic tone). The battle has almost started.
The entire group looks over, filled with familiar faces. The group consists of (in order amongst three rows): Kankuro,(Gaara), Matsuri, Temari, Shikamaru, Choji, Ino, Sai, Sakura, Rock Lee, Tenten, Kiba, Shino, Hinata, (Naruto), Kakashi, Iruka, Ebisu, Konohamaru, (Might Guy). (People in parentheses are seating arrangements after they show up.)
Matsuri (in a caring voice): Gaara-chan, I saved you a seat next to me and Kankuro.
Gaara: Thank you Matsuri.
Naruto and Gaara proceed to take their seats next to Hinata and Matsuri respectively. Naruto looks at Hinata lovingly.
Naruto: I’m glad you could make it.
Hinata: I-I am too. I wanted to be here with you to watch your students.
Naruto leans over and put’s his arm around Hinata.
Naruto (quietly): Thanks, I love you.
Hinata blushes, like she does every time she hears those words.
Hinata (quietly): I-I love you to Naruto-chan.
Song: Afternoon of Konoha
Naruto and Hinata share a moment together. The fight between a Valley and Hot Water ninja is about to take place. Kakashi is sitting there reading Icha Icha Paradise (again) and thinking about the battle as it drags on. The two rows are betting on who’s going to win.
Kiba: I got 10 ryo on the Valley Shinobi!
Kankuro (laughing): The Valley is nothing compared to the Kekkai Genkai of the Hot Water shinobi. My bet goes on the Hot Water.
Tenten: Guys, calm down. We don’t even know the names. Let’s just place bets the genin from our village.
Kiba: But Tenten, that’s boring!
Tenten: Who’s going to collect the money if we all bet on two sides?
Kankuro: You have a point there…
Tenten: Damn right I do.
Kakashi: *Thinking* They're still kids… I remember when I used to place bets on the Chuunin Exams. What am I thinking! I feel like an elderly man right now.
Naruto (confidently): The Hot Water Shinobi is going to win for sure!
Ino: And what makes you so confident?
Naruto (smiling deviously): Just a hunch…
Ino (screaming): Just a hunch!
Sai: Calm down Ino-chan, you don’t want to get your panties in a bunch.
Ino (still screaming): What did you just say!?!
Sai (with his fake smile): Oh nothing…
Ino (sitting back down): That’s what I thought.
Sakura: Sai, sometimes you really push it.
Naruto (sarcastically agreeing): Yea Sai, why can’t you lay off?
Sai: I didn’t realize it was that bad…
Hinata: I-It’s okay Sai, you didn’t mean it…
Ino (snapping): Stay out of it Hinata!
Hinata (snapping back): I was only trying to help!
Ino (backing down): Geez, you don’t have to get so angry.
Song: Alone
Since the war, Hinata has been revered as the most powerful kunoichi in the group. The girls, other than Sakura, think she’ll pound someone whenever she’s angry. The group stops fighting and carries on with their regular conversations. Iruka and Kakashi talk about being a Sensei with Naruto while Konohamaru listen in to get some tips. Kiba exclaims to Shino about how bad his cousin did in the preliminary tournament. Rock Lee and Tenten talk about new moves and jutsu, while next to them, Sakura and Ino talk about Ino’s flower shop.
After two unimportant fights between the Valley and Hot Water, and an insect using Rock ninja and a sand shinobi, the winners are the Hot Water and the Rock. Gaara and the sand siblings are disappointed that one of their own has lost; even though there are plenty more battles. The next battle is between Patsuta and a Rock shinobi. Naruto looks eager to enjoy his pupil’s fight. Patsuta inspects his foe diligently before the battle starts, trying to get a hint at what jutsu the opposition uses. Darui looks at the other two and jumps back. The rock ninja sprints at Patsuta on the open field.
Song: The Rising Fighting Spirit
The two weave hand signs as the rock ninja gains ground. The rock ninja is ten feet away as they finish their jutsu.
Rock Ninja: Earth Style: Stone Fist Jutsu!
Patsuta: Water Style: Water Wave Palm!
The two jutsu collide, however, the stone fist easily overpowers the wave palm. Patsuta is thrown into the ground, which gives a couple bruises. Patsuta stands up, and makes a couple handsigns.
Patsuta: Wind Style: Drilling Wind Bullets!
Patsuta speedy wind bullets are sent hurdling towards the Rock ninja, giving him little time to react. The rock ninja quickly weaves five hand signs and erects a dome of earth. Patsuta continues to pound away at the dome, while the Rock ninja bides his time.
Patsuta (shocked): !
The dome crumples away, leaving the rock ninja exposed.
Patsuta: H-h-he’s sleeping!
The rock ninja is curled up into the fetal position, fast asleep. Patsuta walks over to the spot, trying to figure out what just occurred.
Song: Reverse Situation
Once Patsuta places his foot on the rubble surrounding the ninja, an arm of rock grabs Patsuta’s leg, while a full rock figure punches Patsuta in the face. Patsuta’s body becomes a puddle of water, the result of a water clone. The real Patsuta shows up behind the rock ninja and hit’s him with a Wind Style: Powerful Water Gun. The water gun hit’s the rock ninja in the chest and sends him into the air. Patsuta uses this time for another coordinated attack.
Patsuta (from below): Wind Style: Powerful Wind Wave!
The massive gust of wind pushes the rock ninja farther into the air. Patsuta prepares himself when the rock ninja suddenly is plummeting to the ground at amazing speeds.
Rock Ninja: Earth Style: Super Weighted Boulder Jutsu!
The plummeting ninja gives Patsuta little time to move out of the way. His leg is scraped by the jutsu, giving Patsuta a slight limp. The rock ninja undoes his jutsu and moves towards Patsuta with another Stone Fist Jutsu. Patsuta doesn’t get out in time and is hit in the back, sending him into the forested area. The rock ninja follows him, but has lost sight of Patsuta.
?: Wind Style: Wind Cutter!
Patsuta’s wind cutter slices up the Rock shinobi’s garb and uncovered areas, leading to some blood.
Patsuta (still hidden among the trees): Water Style: Water Bullets!
The Rock ninja has enough time to erect another Earth Dome. This one is weaker than the last, with the water bullets cracking the earth. Patsuta uses this to his advantage and makes a water clone while shooting a Wind Style: Powerful Water Gun. The attack punctures the dome and hits the rock ninja in the face, knocking him to the ground. Naruto is watching from the sidelines, talking to the others about the battle.
End of Song
Naruto: Nice shot Patsuta!
Hinata: He’s pretty good. (Poking fun) Better than you were…
Naruto (laughing): Hey, come on, I defeated Neji.
Tenten and Lee hang their heads a little after hearing their beloved fallen comrade’s name. Sakura notices this and shoot’s Naruto her death stare. He acknowledges the stare and quickly apologizes to the two. Kakashi and Iruka continue to watch the battle, while making little comments to Naruto like, “Did you teach him that?” or “That was pretty clever.”
Naruto sees that Patsuta is about to finish up the battle with his clone on either side of the rock ninja.
Patsuta: Wind Style: Drilling Air Bullets!
Clone: Water Style: Water Bullets
The rock ninja takes the two attacks head on. His skin is torn up from the air bullets and bruised with the water. He falls to the ground, knocked out. Darui signals for the medical team and holds Patsuta’s hand above his head.
Darui: The winner from the Hidden Leaf is Patsuta Tatsumaka!
The crowd roars in agreement. Naruto stands up and cheers with them. Patsuta is barely standing a big smile on his face. The scene fades out as the medical team escorts Patsuta out of the arena.
Song: Victory
Fukutsu and Kameha join Patsuta as he enters waiting area.
Fukutsu: Nice battle, but I won’t be that easy.
Kameha runs up and hugs him.
Kameha: Great fight Patsuta-chan, are you ok?
Patsuta (laughing): Alright Fukutsu, we’ll see. Yes Kameha, I’m fine.
Fukutsu (smiling): I’m looking forward to it!
Kameha: Ok, just making sure.
Fukutsu: *Thinking* What’s with her all of the sudden? She wasn’t like this before, or even during the battle. It’s
a bit suspicious.
The voice of Darui is slightly heard in the background, announcing the names of another Rock shinobi vs. a mist.
The scene fades out…

The water gun hit’s the rock ninja in the chest and sends him into the air. Patsuta uses this time for another coordinated attack.
Patsuta (from below): Wind Style: Powerful Wind Wave!
The massive gust of wind pushes the rock ninja farther into the air. Patsuta prepares himself when the rock ninja suddenly is plummeting to the ground at amazing speeds.
Rock Ninja: Earth Style: Super Weighted Boulder Jutsu!
The plummeting ninja gives Patsuta little time to move out of the way. His leg is scraped by the jutsu, giving Patsuta a slight limp. The rock ninja undoes his jutsu and moves towards Patsuta with another Stone Fist Jutsu. Patsuta doesn’t get out in time and is hit in the back, sending him into the forested area. The rock ninja follows him, but has lost sight of Patsuta.
?: Wind Style: Wind Cutter!
Patsuta’s wind cutter slices up the Rock shinobi’s garb and uncovered areas, leading to some blood.
Patsuta (still hidden among the trees): Water Style: Water Bullets!
The Rock ninja has enough time to erect another Earth Dome. This one is weaker than the last, with the water bullets cracking the earth. Patsuta uses this to his advantage and makes a water clone while shooting a Wind Style: Powerful Water Gun. The attack punctures the dome and hits the rock ninja in the face, knocking him to the ground. Naruto is watching from the sidelines, talking to the others about the battle.

Naruto: Nice shot Patsuta!
Hinata: He’s pretty good. (Poking fun) Better than you were…
Naruto (laughing): Hey, come on, I defeated Neji.
Tenten and Lee hang their heads a little after hearing their beloved fallen comrade’s name. Sakura notices this and shoot’s Naruto her death stare. He acknowledges the stare and quickly apologizes to the two. Kakashi and Iruka continue to watch the battle, while making little comments to Naruto like, “Did you teach him that?” or “That was pretty clever.”
Naruto sees that Patsuta is about to finish up the battle with his clone on either side of the rock ninja.
Patsuta: Wind Style: Drilling Air Bullets!
Clone: Water Style: Water Bullets
The rock ninja takes the two attacks head on. His skin is torn up from the air bullets and bruised with the water. He falls to the ground, knocked out. Darui signals for the medical team and holds Patsuta’s hand above his head.
Darui: The winner from the Hidden Leaf is Patsuta Tatsumaka!
The crowd roars in agreement. Naruto stands up and cheers with them. Patsuta is barely standing a big smile on his face. The scene fades out as the medical team escorts Patsuta out of the arena.

Fukutsu and Kameha join Patsuta as he enters waiting area.
Fukutsu: Nice battle, but I won’t be that easy.
Kameha runs up and hugs him.
Kameha: Great fight Patsuta-chan, are you ok?
Patsuta (laughing): Alright Fukutsu, we’ll see. Yes Kameha, I’m fine.
Fukutsu (smiling): I’m looking forward to it!
Kameha: Ok, just making sure.
Fukutsu: *Thinking* What’s with her all of the sudden? She wasn’t like this before, or even during the battle. It’s
a bit suspicious.
The voice of Darui is slightly heard in the background, announcing the names of another Rock shinobi vs. a mist.
The scene fades out…
