This "famous maelstrom" is none other than the Naruto Whirlpools between Shikoku and Awajishima:

When Izanagi and Izanami dipped Amanunoboko into the ocean, they stirred the waters forming the maelstroms/whirlpools, and from these whirlpools rose Onogoro Island.

Onogoro is literally the Island of the Whirlpools, and became the new home of the creator spouse when they relocated to Earth from Heaven. The same way the Ohtsutsukis relocated to Uzu no Kuni when the Sage created the Whirlpool Island with Nunoboko.

And that is how the Ōtsutsuki became the Uzumaki Clan.

I think it makes more sense that they came from Hagoromo's brother, that would make them "distant blood relatives" don't you think? Since it's clear that he only had two biological sons. Which pretty much disproves that the Indra and Ashura were created with Creation of All Things. If they were created with that, then Ashura wouldn't have been "useless" at first, Hagoromo would have made them both powerful, why wouldn't he? He talked about Indra receiving better genes and all that, that wouldn't have happened if he made them, they were born from a mother who we'll never know.

What do you think about Madara being the reincarnation of Indra? I don't see how Sasuke being "Indra" would make sense. I mean yeah they were chosen by fate and all that has been said in the manga before, but Naruto is going to beat Madara, he's going to change the Indra "soul" so that they don't fight anymore for all of eternity, it'll be Indra vs Ashura again, but this time it's the last battle. Indra being Sasuke....I don't know, I guess he could be, Naruto changes Indra's mind in Sasuke and they team up to beat the bad guy, Madara? But Sasuke is already teamed up with Naruto, they already are going to battle Madara and beat him. I guess it could also be afterwards when Madara is defeated that Indra shows himself in Sasuke, and THEN the brothers, Ashura/Naruto and Sasuke/Indra have one last battle, and that's how Naruto changes Indra/Sasuke for good.
