- The sage knew that at some point in the future the tails would again be merged (suggesting he knows what's going to happen). What it added to the story was that the sage could predict the future (the toad sage can also predict the future if you want to read into that line of thinking) which is a pretty random ability to give the guy. The only thing it could affect is that it adds a whole bunch of extra mystery to what's written on the Uchiha tablet. The only other option is that hes actually remembering events that have already happened.
- Naruto reminds 9tails of the sage. He also looks a lot like him (so does the 4th) suggesting some close relation going on here. One thing that was suggested to me is that the Sage had a third child. One got the body, one got the mind and one got the soul.
- On the rinnegan side, a Naruhina lovechild mixing Uzumaki (related to Senjuu) and Hyuuga (assumably related to Uchiha) could create a Rinnegan, much like how Madara mixed his own DNA with the 1st hokage. Naruto and Hinata living in the past, raising a badass superninja?
- Obito already stated that the 10 tails jinchuuriki would obtain almost godlike power. This could provide the capability to travel in time (which isn't a first for the anime). Space-time ninjutsu also flows in the Naruto's veins. Also, if 4 infinite-chakra immortal hokage, a sannin, one 10 tails wielding sage and one EMS user can't muster enough chakra to time travel, who can? If people can predict the future all over the place in this series, then time is already a pretty abstract concept.
- Kishi likes the whole buddhist rebirth stuff. A cycle of life so to speak. Many of his characters abilities refer to buddhist poses and stories.
- Naruto's birthday is 10th October. 10/10. Sound almost phophetic to you?
