Personally, I believe Kishimoto should have introduced Naruto in a different way or simply selected another main protagonist to fit the series better.. Naruto is and has always been a hot tempered person when it came to his friends. It would be in his character to become enraged and kill someone that caused the death of his parents and oh so many more losses and casualties.

But apparently, disregarding a person's character is normal when it comes to advancing the story.

thats the surprising part, Jiraiya was the type of shinobi who wouldn't hesitate killing his friend or comrade if they pose a danger to konoha- take Pein for example-Jman had full killing intents. Jiraiya even said to Tsunade in part1, "if you're plotting against the leaf, I'd be the first one to kill you"

Only Naruto and Minato are the bullshit forgiving type really not fit to be an ideal ninja
