Canonically, the end credit shows Naruto that he is definitely scared of Himawari, look how the ninetail freaked out. Thats why since then, we havn't seen any interaction between Naruto and Himawari following up in Naruto Gaiden and Boruto movie. Only Clone Naruto made encountered to Himawari Birthday.

One thing is confirmed is that it's not 100% Comic relief, it was funny as hell how she soloed Naruto but Naruto still dropped the ballz considering he didn't even attend to the Hokage ceremony and was incapacitated for a whole day.

Kishimoto has no involvement with SP work unless he's writing a script for a Movie, nor does the Boruto Manga have anything to do with an OVA Kishimoto created which only was covered up until the last scene where Boruto was shrieking in his closet.
