You need to look at this battle for what it was. Sasuke on the offensive and Naruto on the defensive. Naruto wasn't trying to kill Sasuke so he was able to focus all his effort on simply staying alive, his nigh limitless stamina and shadow clones make him extremely tenacious and resilient. He wasn't trying to kill Sasuke but he was trying to beat him into submission which proved impossible as Sasuke kept increasing in strength forcing Naruto to improvise just to avoid certain death.

In the end, they proved to be evenly matched, both losing an arm and ending up in an equivalent state. If Naruto wasn't completely focused on staying alive I'm sure it one of them would have died, it could have gone either way, it's just hard to kill someone who's equal to you when they're completely dedicated to defense.

Naruto had Sasuke at point blank with a bijuu dama in the anime, but if he had fired it Sasuke would have just used ameno and avoided it, he knew Naruto was holding back and used that as an opportunity to use Kirin. You can't say Naruto would have one if he launched his attack since we know Sasuke could have dodged it he needed to.

It was an evenly matched fight, but I think if Naruto wasn't solely devoted to defense he would have been killed by Sasuke. Sasuke's abilities are simply more versatile and deadly, Naruto spent the majority of the fight narrowly avoiding death by a hair.

The fanboys of either sides don't realize that they're equals. Whenever the author makes them fight they either both get defeated or one barely comes out on top. The author even said they're equals to further validate your point and they are so similar in overall fighting ability they could completely cancel each other out. If Naruto was truly that much stronger than Sasuke. He would defeat him and bring him back to the village. If Sasuke was stronger than Naruto he would have killed him in vote 2. That's all there is to it.

This is basically the bottom line. No matter what happens, if Naruto is in Base vs Sasuke with sharingan activated, or Naruto is using RSM vs EMS Sasuke, nothing that they can throw at each other will change the outcome that both lose their arms.

Bijuu chakra has nothing to do with RSM and that was mere fragments of a whole Bijuu to keep Naruto alive while Sasuke had 8 + half of Kurama plugged into his Susano'o like Sakura does a buttplug.

The only way Naruto and Sasuke are equal is in terms of relevance to the story and panel time. Naruto is the superior fighter.

The chunks looked a lot bigger than fragments to me, a good 1/5th of each Bijuu at least. He was also able to use the nature transformations of each Bijuu in this form. He clearly had a significant amount of their power.
