well, since no one knows about obito wanting to become hokage from the new generation , only the older, and kakashi talking about "am i connected with obit" can only meant that kakashi filled up those thoughts and shared them with obito...i mean its the only reason kakashi saw what obito saw and those things popped in his head about filling the heart

Obito was imagining his old self, he was picturing himself as Naruto with his unbreakable will of his past self if he were the good guy in this war which then led him to imagine what his life woulda been like if he'd stayed on the right path like naruto did instead of falling into darkness. Kakashi is connected with Obito though his eye, still a bit unclear how that actually works but hopefully Kishi explains it in more detail.
