I agree with you there. I think of Naruto's intelligence as your average 16 yr old boys intelligence. Not really as dumb as he was in part I but this is just how he has always been around Team 7. they are his family despite the roads he, Sasuke, and Sakura have taken.

It's like how a kid acts when he is in school and then how he acts when he is out on the town with his friends. Someone else said it best. He feels safe around Sasuke and Sakura so he tends to act foolish. It's as you said. Classic Naruto.

Well, Sasuke over-analyzed the situation by thinking that Hokage didn't need any assistance... Which Minato later confirmed...

So, that's not a failure on Naruto's part... Also, Sasuke hasn't dealt with ET enough to tell Naruto what to do...

you bring up a valid point. Let me further compliment your response. Just because Edos dont die doesn't mean they can just take hits and keep going. Minato said it himself, it takes time for the edo bodies to recover, which is time spent not fighting and that's also time the Obito or Madara can seal them.

Naruto isn't a genius; He just has experience. Ever notice his wisest moments happen during battle? Ask a drug dealer what a natural logarithm is and they might look confused, but ask them how many grams are in an ounce and they are likely to have the answer right at the tip of their brain. People are at the height of their intellect when engaged in their specialties. Naruto shines in battle.

Why is it so difficult to accept that he just isn't that smart. He is no idiot, but the manga made it clear from chapter one that while he does have his moments, he is no genius. He is cunning, innovative, has great ingenuity, and certainly has at least above average intelligence. He just doesn't compare to once in a generation geniuses and child prodigies. His naivety, lack of knowledge and over caring nature does nothing to help this.
