Naruto: Iruka Or Jiraiya

I don't think there's a right answer to this question, both have been important to Naruto's development/growth.

Jiraiya was like a grandfather/teacher/role model who taught Naruto what it means to be a Shinobi and gave him the tools for it. Iruka is like a big brother, who eventually cared for Naruto as human being (not just a Jin), treated him with kindness and was there in his time of need.

Again, don't think there's a right answer to this question.

Well, at that point Jiraiya was already dead. But, in that case you could say Iruka understands Naruto better. That comment was about Iruka's connection towards Naruto, not the other way around.
After thinking a bit more about it i think i see and understand why someone would say Iruka is held in higher regard. For me they're even in Naruto's heart though. Together with Kakashi

It was Naruto who held Iruka at his heart. And being dead or alive has nothing to do with who you hold dear inside your heart.

It's common knowledge that he's a mega-fodder. It took both of them a good while to actually start a relationship because Naruto was Naruto, BUT WHEN THEY DID. Naruto had someone to talk to but by the time he finished with Jiraiya, he was a mini- Jiraiya.

Because Iruka was 16 years old, when his parents were killed by the monster inside of Naruto, and on top of that you had the other people in the village influencing his mind, so its understandable why he took so long to talk to Naruto. However, talking with the third, made him realize Naruto is just like him.


Jiraiya despite knowing who Naruto was , thought of him as an annoying kid, until Naruto summoned bunta and so on.
